Quality Control Inspector

We are now looking for a 

 

Quality Control Inspector – Machine Shop

 

To join our team working for a better future, The machine shop operates across 5 cells producing seal and bearings for the marine sector and various Navies around the globe.

 

The position is permanent, and the preferred location is Havant, UK.

 

As the Quality Control Inspector, your work will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

  • Product inspection - Responsible for inspecting components at various stages through the production process including final inspection
  • Raise non-conformances in accordance with the non-conformance process.
  • Performs extra duties or special projects when requested.
  • Ability to read & interpret technical drawings and related documentation e.g., Purchase Orders, Concessions.
  • Able to effectively communicate with Quality Assurance department and/or management in unusual situations regarding Quality Control issues.
  • Responsible for inspecting as per current procedure and specification and releasing parts to stores, assembly and packaging areas.
  • Collate & record traceability details to assist QA with MDR Quality Packs & Class Visits.
  • Good knowledge of Problem-Solving techniques to support Root Cause analysis/investigations.
  • Ability to be flexible is key for this position with a wide variety of duties to be carried out in a safe accurate manner working to our OTIF (On time delivery in full) target.
  • Capable of carrying out tasks individually as well as working effectively as part of the Logistics Team
  • Maintain a save working environment & high standard of housekeeping.

 

Development Responsibilities:

 

  • Possess general knowledge of Quality System Regulations and International Standards.
  • Utilizing various inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, checks dimensions/processes on parts or raw material to ensure compliance to manufacturing drawings/blueprints/specifications.
  • Works closely with Quality Control Inspectors, Project Engineering, Quality Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure that all manufacturing and inspection activities are performed in compliance with process work documents.
  • Insures that in-process inspections are completed per engineering specifications during the production process.
  • Performs mechanical, visual, and dimensional inspections of parts using inspection hand tools.
  • Potentially perform CMM Programming and Inspection is possible (or previously trained in addition to experience)
  • Communicate with Supply Quality assurance Engineer on quality issues.
  • Attach correct labelling to outside of storage cartons/pallets. Store product in warehouse and do transactions to adjust inventory on the system.
  • Must be able to work from Engineering drawings for visual dimensional inspection of purchased or manufactured products utilizing measuring instruments.
  • Any other duties that may be required.
  • Communicate with all ops teams to ensure proactive actions are taken to meet OTIF.
  • Continuous improvement relating to process and procedures.
  • All duties carried out to be done in a safe manner following H&S safety procedures.

 

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have: 

 

  • Mechanical and electrical component inspection
  • Basic mechanical Inspection tools
  • Dimensional inspection hand tools
  • FDA
  • GMP
  • ISO 13485, ISO 9001
  • Experience/background of working in a production/engineering environment is essential.
  • Understand Health & Safety environment/procedures.
  • Mechanical/assembly aptitude.
  • Read and understand drawings is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years mechanical inspection experience desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
  • Flexibility to work across Logistics Operations teams.
  • Safety awareness.
  • Ideally educated to college standard, mechanical apprenticeship or solid experience
  • working in manufacturing industry.
  • Industry standard computer packages (Microsoft / MRP systems).
  • Good knowledge & understanding of SAP
