Quality Engineer

Wartsila Defence Solutions Ltd is evolving from an original equipment manufacturer of shaft line equipment, into an integrator of complete submarine/surface fleet shaft line solutions in line with its Strategic growth plan.
We are now looking for a Quality Engineer to join our forward-thinking team of professionals.
The successful candidate will be employed on a permanent basis and will be based out of our office in Havant, Hampshire United Kingdom. 
What will you be doing
In this role, you will have the opportunity to deliver quality documentation / soft deliverables for Rest-Of-World (ROW) Naval New-build and USA seal builds and spare part sales orders, support current team and elevate additional pressure found from increase in naval / military orders, surface fleet and submarines.

As a Quality Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Review material certification against material specifications
  • Review Non-Destructive Testing reports against material specification
  • Inspect / survey seal assembly during manufacture, at test and prior to packing
  • Write reports to satisfy customer contract, to include Factory Acceptance Tests, material certification, dimensional reporting etc.
  • Evaluate data and identify recurring problems to define necessary preventive actions.
  • Participate in internal / external quality issues.
  • Supporting customer complaint and warranty investigations
  • Supporting Internal NCR investigations
  • Carry out internal audits as required
  • Ensure that all statutory and regulatory Health & Safety requirements are implemented locally.
  • Lead assigned projects

You will shine in this role when you have:

  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
  • Deep understanding of importance of Health & Safety at Work
  • Good awareness of ISO 9001 Management Systems
  • English language
  • Computer literate and know how to write reports

  • Collaborative team player, at ease communicating with colleagues throughout the business and via various means
