Central Supply Management is looking for a new Director that can shape our strategy and further develop our capabilities to improve Quality, Delivery, Cost & Lead-time from our external suppliers.
The preferred location for this position is Vaasa or Helsinki, Finland, but other locations with existing Supply Management organization in place are also negotiable.
Your role and responsibilities
As Director, Central Supply Management you will lead the development and implementation of Wärtsilä’s global Supply Management strategy in collaboration with Corporate Supply Management. The Central Supply Management team within Power Supply is responsible for supply management activities across all Wärtsilä Businesses and Business Units, focusing on:
- Building Wärtsilä’s sourcing strategy
- Driving global process development, alignment, and efficiency
- Advancing digitalisation and automation in supply management
- Performance reporting and analytics
- Coordinating supplier development across businesses
The goal is to deliver value to customers by managing an innovative supplier base and ensuring timely, high-quality, and cost-efficient supply of components and services.
You will lead a team of experts that provides global processes, tools, reporting, and supplier development expertise, including KPI analytics, process improvement, digitalisation (AI, SRM, Supplier Portal, WeBuy), and operational development/training for Supplier Development.
Your responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain Wärtsilä’s Supply Management strategy, vision, and roadmap.
- Lead Central Supply Management activities in alignment with business stakeholders.
- Drive process and tool development for supply chain.
- Oversee supplier development and continues improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate supply chain risk management actions.
- Manage sourcing and purchasing master data governance across key systems.
To be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have:
- Expertise in shaping and implementing strategies in global environment
- Strong leadership and team management skills in an international, matrix environment
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities with stakeholders
- Expertise in change management, process development, and project management
- Solid analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills
- Business and financial acumen preferably with supply management and supplier development knowledge
- Familiarity with Supplier Development tools and continues improvement methods (advantage)
- Solution-oriented, persistent, and quality-focused approach
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in a relevant field
- Fluent in English (oral and written)
