We are looking for a Head of IT M&A, to join Wärtsilä’s CIO Office and work closely with the Corporate M&A Team. In this role you will provide strategic and project leadership for all IT-related aspects of mergers, acquisitions, divestments, and carve-outs, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and driving the full lifecycle of M&A activities from market screening and due diligence through integration and completion.
The Head of IT M&A will take ownership of all IT-related matters in M&A and Divestment projects, driving their execution from initiation through completion. This position requires strategic oversight, project leadership, and effective resource management to support the IT implications of mergers, acquisitions, and carve-outs across various Wärtsilä businesses.
Key Responsibilities:

Act as the primary IT liaison with the Corporate Strategy & M&A unit, ensuring IT aspect is embedded in all M&A activities, aligned with corporate strategy and business objectives, while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across business areas and corporate functions.

Lead IT activities throughout the full M&A lifecycle, including due diligence, integration, carve-out planning and execution, and the definition and delivery of IT roadmaps for acquisitions, post-merger integrations, and carve-outs.

Oversee IT due diligence to assess IT landscapes, risks, costs, and integration challenges, and drive IT transition planning, including TSA negotiations and execution, target state design, and seamless integration or separation.

Plan for, and manage IT project resources, across all stakeholder organizations, including external consultants and service providers, ensuring successful delivery across core systems such as SAP ERP, Salesforce, all infrastructure, and end-user computing. Work with all Wärtsilä IT units for seamless collaboration.

Identify and mitigate risks related to IT architecture, security, compliance, regulatory standards, and operational continuity, while ensuring robust governance frameworks and financial oversight to support cost efficiency and budget adherence.

Foster and lead the cross-organisation and virtual Wärtsilä IT M&A capability community.
Qualifications & Experience:

Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field, with 10+ years of IT leadership experience and a strong focus on M&A.

Proven track record in IT due diligence, integration & carve-out planning and execution within complex, multi-business-unit and decentralized organizations. Background also within consultancies is a plus.

Strong project management capabilities in large-scale IT transformations, with familiarity across enterprise systems such as SAP ERP, Salesforce, IT infrastructure, and network services.

Experienced in TSA negotiations, IT carve-outs and integrations, and skilled in stakeholder management, engaging effectively with executive leadership, business unit leaders, and external partners.

Preferred qualifications include ITIL, PMP or similar certification (or equivalent experience), expertise in IT governance and compliance in M&A contexts, and prior experience in a multinational environment.
