Our Business Development team supports market development activities in Wärtsilä Energy globally by identifying, analysing and developing new value propositions for our solutions (engine power plants, energy storage and hybrids) by combining world-leading energy system modelling capability with market and business knowhow.

About the position 

 

This is a unique opportunity for you to join us and shape the transitioning energy market and the energy business at Wärtsilä. Your journey will begin from Helsinki, Finland where the position is based. However, this position provides a good entry into international career opportunities in business development, market development and sales roles within Wärtsilä globally.  

 

As a Power System Analyst, you will: 

  • Participate in and provide support for our global market development activities with power system modelling using Plexos –power system optimization software and Excel-based tools; analyse results and quantify system-level benefits 

  • Conduct energy market and country analyses which support project and market development initiatives 

  • Support Energy’s new business, strategy and M&A functions with value proposition development, feasibility analyses and analysis tool development 

  • Conduct techno-commercial analyses for projects to support the sales organization 

  • Present and communicate the results for internal and external customers and stakeholders of Wärtsilä in meetings, seminars, and other influencing events 

  • Develop and maintain power system models and feasibility calculation tools 

  • Support in development of process-based system modelling, including data storage & handling and result analytics & visualization  

  •  

There are some qualifications that needs to match for you to succeed in this position: 

  • You’ve graduated from the university within 12 months or are to graduate soon with major subject in System modelling, Energy Technology, Energy Markets,  Electrical systems, Industrial Engineering and Management, Computer Science or other major that supports the task.  

  • You share our values – Energy, Excellence and Excitement – and it will feel natural to you to live by them in daily work to demonstrate ownership and responsibility for driving own work. 

  • You’ve got excellent analytical skills and mindset, an ability to model and solve complex problems as well as advanced skills in MS tools.  

  • Knowledge of Plexos- or other power system modelling software can be beneficial but prior knowhow is not required.  

  • Knowledge of data analytics, coding or machine learning algorithms can be beneficial but prior knowledge is not required. 

  • Most important at this stage is that you are a team player with good interpersonal skills, interest in energy business and excitement for travel. 

  • You’re fluent in English, other language skills are considered an advantage.
