General Manager, Corporate Relations

Wärtsilä Corporate Relations and Sustainability team is looking for an experienced and passionate person for the position of General Manager, Corporate Relations. This is a global position in a Corporate Relations function playing a key role in developing Wärtsilä influencing agenda, positions, and execution of action plans. You will work closely with our businesses and global support functions to develop and implement our group-wide Corporate Relations activities. You’ll be working as a part of the Corporate Relations team and will report to the Vice President, Corporate Relations and Sustainability. The preferred location for this position is Helsinki.
 
Your role and responsibilities:

 

In this position, you are engaged in developing, coordinating, and leading the following global CR activities, such as: 

 

  • Planning of influencing activities 
  • Leading the Corporate Relations team 
  • Analysing the impacts of regulations being developed together with our businesses and global functions 
  • Preparing Wärtsilä’s positions on key regulatory developments 
  • Executing action plans 
  • Developing ways of working 

 

As an ideal candidate, you: 

 

  • Have experience in conducting corporate influencing activities 
  • Are committed to further developing influencing activities and ways of working 
  • Have high ethical standards 
  • Understand the decision-making and regulatory processes


Requirements for the position: 

 

  • University degree 
  • Minimum five (5) years demonstrated influencing related activities 
  • Expert knowledge of decision-making and regulatory processes 
  • Experience in position-building and influencing work 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills 
  • Capable of establishing professional relationships, cooperating and communicating in both a cross-functional and a global environment 
  • Strong results orientation 
  • Demonstrable problem-solving and decision-making skills 
  • Previous leadership experience 
  • Fluent written and spoken English 
  • Travel expectancy 10%
