Marketing & Communications plays a key role in creating awareness for Wärtsilä, building preference for its flexible power solutions & lifecycle services and increasing stakeholder engagement in key focus countries. 


Why this position is for you 

 

As a Communications Manager, you will be part of the global Wärtsilä Energy Positioning team building thought leadership, brand awareness and positioning Wärtsilä worldwide. You will be responsible for Energy’s PR work including press releases and media work to drive brand awareness and thought leadership. You will develop a thorough understanding of Wärtsilä Energy’s unique and broad offering, particularly within the realm of decarbonisation – along with our key messaging, vision, purpose and mission. Working collaboratively within the entire Energy business you will drive creative and inspiring global communications work resulting in compelling coverage and a growth in share of voice. Attention to detail, visuals and an eye for quality, along with the ability to grasp and translate technical capabilities into benefits is crucial. You are comfortable with developing content towards our external audience and working tightly with leadership and other internal key stakeholders. Collaboration with different internal and external stakeholders is on the core to the successful performance.

Location: The preferred location for the position is in Finland (Helsinki or Vaasa), but also other Wärtsilä key locations are possible. 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Positioning externally Wärtsilä Energy through communication, according to our vision and strategy, working closely with internal key stakeholders
  • Lead and manage Energy’s press releases together with business owners, liaising closely with Wärtsilä’s Corporate communications and Investor Relations teams
  • Manage global media relations, management of agencies, writers, media partnerships 
  • Generating and capturing media opportunities for our key (mainly top executives) spokespersons
  • Creating messaging and supporting key spokespersons with media interviews
  • Planning and executing media engagement activities as part of marketing campaigns 
  • Maintaining and training a pool of Energy Business spokespersons. 
  • Supporting Energy’s multi-channel content production team, by evaluating and pitching content to media
  • Supporting crisis communications activities 
  • Editorial requirements include basic SEO understanding, writing in the voice of various channels, content development, content syndication, distribution and measurement
  • Management of forecasts/budget in own area of expertise and reporting analytics

  • Experience with Meltwater and Salesforce a plus
  • Minimum 3-5+ years working experience in marketing, communications or related work
  • Bachelor/Master’s degree or equivalent working experience

  • Expertise in international B2B marketing and communications, and working with media
  • Skilled in leveraging partner network of PR agencies, striving for high quality and effectiveness
