Wärtsilä Energy Storage Business is looking for a dynamic professional for the position of Manager, Head of Supplier Development & Quality to join in our energetic Supply Management team.

This position is located in Helsinki, Vaasa or Turku, Finland or Herndon, US.


Accountabilities: 

  • For the global Energy Storage supplier base, the Manager, Head of Supplier Development & Quality is accountable to implement Sourcing strategies and action plans agreed with relevant stakeholders to meet global sourcing needs and requirements of Wärtsilä Energy Storage business

 
Main Responsibilities:  

  • Create Supplier Development & Quality vision and strategy, developing and formulating operation direction, environment, expectations and priorities for the function based on business line priority setting
  • Lead and coach the Supplier Development & Quality team to enable and support the business in improving Quality, Delivery, Cost & Lead-time from external suppliers
  • Lead, manage, control and follow-up Quality, Delivery and Cost activities utilizing defined Supplier Development tools
  • Develop and communicate organization’s expectations for supplier performance, continuous improvement, quality systems, process controls and capabilities to suppliers.
  • Lead the supplier qualification program assessing compliance of suppliers and other regulatory requirements as well as global and business line policies, standards & procedures
  • Measure, track, trend and communicate/report supplier performance on key metrics and the corresponding continuous improvement plans on a regular basis.
  • Ensure and manage robust process and system for communicating, planning and executing major supplier-initiated changes, complaints and deviations.
  • Develop and sustain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of sourcing and supplier strategy as well as supplier selection
  • Ensure right competence and sufficient resources are available within the team
  • Advice and support in suppliers closures decisions 

 

Requirements: 

  • Academic degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) , 5+ years experience of engineering, supplier development and/or quality experience in power systems, renewables or energy storage industry
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and are capable of interfacing with numerous parties at all levels in a multicultural environment.
  • Familiar with analytical techniques commonly used to investigate component defects and ability to couch team to use such techniques 
  • Product and process auditing experience, management system auditing experience with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 or similar is preferred. Furthermore, certification within Lean and/or Six Sigma will be perceived as an advantage
  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentations skills
  • Solution oriented, problem solving and result driven attitude to work 
  • Mentoring and coaching capability to grow the team competences
  • Self-guided and proactive team player, able to operate under pressure
  • Fluent in written and spoken English language
