We are looking for a Portfolio Manager with a main responsibility of managing and prioritizing the Energy Data and AI portfolio to ensure alignment between business needs and delivery. The preferred location for this position is Helsinki or Vaasa, Finland, but other locations may also be negotiable. We offer the possibility of hybrid work.

You will orchestrate how business priorities flow into delivery across our Energy Data and AI portfolio, ensuring the right initiatives are pursued at the right time. This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the Head of Data, Engineering and Analytics. This is an individual contributor role with high strategic influence, with occasional travel required.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Portfolio Manager, your work will include translating competing business needs into a coherent, prioritized portfolio that drives measurable impact across the organization. You will own the end-to-end portfolio intake and planning process, facilitate prioritization discussions, and ensure alignment between business ambition and delivery capacity. The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of a global Data, Engineering and Analytics team with diverse expertise.

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Synchronizing Product Owners across domains, ensuring aligned priorities and a shared portfolio view
  • Acting as the single point of contact for portfolio-level stakeholder requests and facilitating prioritization and planning
  • Owning the portfolio intake and planning process, from request assessment to prioritization and tracking
  • Managing the epic-level backlog and initiatives across JIRA, Confluence, and enterprise PM tools
  • Bridging business and engineering by translating initiatives into clear context for delivery teams
  • Ensuring governance and compliance awareness in portfolio prioritization
  • Surfacing blockers and key portfolio decisions to leadership with transparency

To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:

  • An MSc (or higher) in Computer Science, IT, or a relevant field with at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong experience with JIRA, Confluence, and enterprise portfolio/project management tools
  • An understanding of data concepts such as data pipelines and data products
  • Solid knowledge of Agile/SAFe ways of working and portfolio planning practices
  • Ability to assess value, effort, and risk to support prioritization decisions
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment without authority
  • Strong facilitation and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English

Additional qualifications seen as an advantage:

  • Data governance awareness; familiarity with GDPR, data ownership, and quality policies sufficient to flag risks early
  • Organizational intelligence; ability to navigate informal power structures and understand who the real decision-makers are
  • Experience from energy, manufacturing, or asset-heavy industries
  • Familiarity with data platforms, such as Databricks

Why you and us?

We at Wärtsilä believe in empowerment, ownership, and taking responsibility for our work. We support each other’s growth, and co-creation is the true basis of our innovation. We have the courage to see opportunities and take initiative.

We are authentic and honest, and we strongly believe that by being your true self, you can accomplish so much more. We don’t always get it right the first time, and if mistakes are made, we make sure to learn and grow from them. We want everyone to voice their opinions freely. That is why we have built an environment that empowers you and everyone around you, and where you can feel safe and cared for. Are you eager to be part of this ambition?

We have an amazing team, and we are excited about our work and the impact it has on building sustainable societies. We are looking to find a colleague with this shared passion for smart technologies and a sustainable future.

You will shape the portfolio that enables Energy's digital and AI future, influence business and technology teams, work with motivated experts globally, and contribute to Wärtsilä's mission of enabling a 100% renewable energy future.
