Senior Brand Designer (Digital)

Wärtsilä is an innovative technology company known for being a forerunner in the Marine and Energy markets. Every day, we – Wärtsilians – put our hearts and minds into turning Wärtsilä's purpose of enabling sustainable societies through innovation in technology and services into reality. Our ultimate aim is to provide increased value to both our customers and society. New, game-changing ideas and continuous improvement have been part of our DNA since 1834. Together, we can create new business opportunities and a more sustainable future that we can all be proud of.

We want to transition the world towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. By pushing the boundaries of engineering and technology, we can make it work. We are always on the lookout for future-oriented talent – want to join the ride?

As part of Wärtsilä’s Marketing and Communications Brand Center of Excellence, we are looking for a Senior Brand Designer (Digital).

As the Senior Brand Designer (Digital), you are responsible for shaping and delivering high‑quality digital brand experiences across products, services, and platforms. You own the brand expression within digital touchpoints, ensuring these consistently reflect the brand identity and desired brand experience. In addition, you are responsible for digital brand and marketing assets.

Key stakeholders include the Brand Creative Lead, Head of Brand, Brand Operations Lead, Product and Service Development teams, Digital Marketing Technology team, Marketing and Communications, business area marketing teams, external digital and design partners, and other internal teams responsible for digital customer touchpoints.

This is a permanent position and the possible locations for this role are Helsinki or Vaasa (Finland), Gdansk (Poland) or Trieste (Italy).

Key responsibilities include:

Digital brand touchpoints: services

  • Owning brand design for digital services, websites, and platforms
  • Ensuring consistency, quality, and coherence across service journeys and digital channels
  • Translating brand strategy and guidelines into scalable digital design systems and components, where applicable

Digital brand touchpoints: products

  • Providing guidance on brand expression in digital user interfaces for products, including hardware‑related digital UIs
  • Ensuring product interfaces align with brand identity, visual language, and experience principles

Digital marketing assets:

  • Driving the design of PowerPoint presentations and graphic and strategic materials to ensure high‑quality, on‑brand outputs across the organisation
  • Acting as a senior‑level expert designer, supporting and owning other brand‑related design needs as required

Other design work:

  • Contributing to high‑quality design work, creative problem‑solving, and mentorship within the brand team
  • Supporting brand initiatives, campaigns, or explorations with digital design expertise

Position requirements:

  • Strong expertise in digital brand design, including UI design for services and platforms, with strong attention to detail
  • Experience in designing digital user interfaces for both hardware‑related and software‑based environments
  • Deep understanding of brand systems, visual identity, and brand consistency in digital contexts
  • Strong conceptual skills and craftsmanship, with the ability to translate brand strategy into practical digital solutions
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed organisation
  • Experience building and maintaining scalable design systems (component libraries, tokens, design guidelines), not just using them but architecting them for organisational use
  • Proven ability to work directly with Product and Service Development teams as an embedded brand partner, not as a downstream recipient of briefs
  • Experience with hardware-related digital interfaces (HMI, control panels, on-device UIs) in an industrial context
  • Able to lead junior designers, providing structured feedback, quality reviews, and skill development
  • Familiarity with design-to-development handoff processes and collaboration with engineering/technology teams to ensure design intent is preserved in implementation
  • Portfolio demonstrating work across B2B or industrial contexts
