We are now looking for a Purchaser / Senior Purchaser to join our team in Finland.
What you will be doing
As a Purchaser, you will ensure the efficient and compliant procurement of materials, equipment, and professional services required for project execution. You will work closely with project teams and suppliers to secure delivery performance, cost efficiency and quality.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Executing quotation and purchasing requests assigned by Project Managers or Senior Purchasers
- Maintaining purchasing data in ERP systems and ensuring accuracy of orders and deliveries
- Monitoring deliveries and proactively updating stakeholders
- Ensuring procurement activities comply with Wärtsilä policies, procedures, budgets and timelines
- Collecting and validating supplier documentation, including invoices
- Reviewing invoices against deliverables before processing
- Managing supplier claims related to incorrect or damaged deliveries
- Supporting payment prioritisation discussions with relevant stakeholders
- Building and maintaining professional relationships with assigned suppliers
- Ensuring supplier and item master data is up to date in ERP systems
- Identifying opportunities to improve procurement processes
Additional responsibilities (Senior Purchaser)
In a Senior role, you will also:
- Coordinate and distribute procurement activities within the team
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key and strategic suppliers
- Identify and onboard new suppliers
- Lead negotiations ensuring alignment with Wärtsilä policies and contractual requirements
- Analyse quotations from both commercial and technical perspectives
- Monitor supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery)
- Provide regular updates and reporting to line management
- Support, guide, and develop team members
What will help you succeed in this role
- Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
- Relevant experience in purchasing, preferably in a project-driven or industrial environment
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP is considered an advantage)
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a global environment
- Team-oriented mindset combined with the ability to work independently
- Fluency in English
For Senior level:
- Proven experience in supplier management and negotiations
- Ability to prioritise and support others in a team environment
