Software Testing Engineer

Software Testing Engineer

Wärtsilä create integrated technological solutions to improve the safety and efficiency of shipping, navigation, and ship operations:

  • fleet monitoring and management
  • vessel traffic control systems
  • marine training systems
  • on-board navigation equipment
  • mobile navigation apps

We are now looking for a Software Testing Engineer to join our forward-looking team. Based ideally in Helsinki, Finland; Belgrade, Serbia or Hamburg, Germany.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Writing test documentation (test cases for manual and automated testing, checklists), making defects in Jira.
  • Conducting manual functional, integration, regression and smoke testing of web applications.
  • Analysis of requirements and development of test scenarios.
  • Recording test results and reporting.
  • Drawing up a balanced and sufficient set of regression and smoke tests.
  • Participation in the decomposition and evaluation of technical problems in terms of testing.
  • Testing frontend and backend.
  • Communication with developers and managers.

 

Knowledge and skills we are looking for:

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  
  • Focused on the team's tasks.
  • Experienced in testing web applications.
  • Capable to recognize “cause-and-effect" relationships and, not to confuse “cause” with “effect”. 
  • Bring a creative thinking approach when it comes to complex problem-solving situations.   
  • Promoting quality within the organization.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing test documentation: bug reports, test cases, checklists and test plans.
  • Knowledge of testing theory.
  • Knowledge of REST API, understanding of web service technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of Git.
  • Experience in testing web applications and using test management tools from 1 year.
  • Basic layout skills (HTML, CSS, Dev Tools).
  • Understanding the interaction with databases.

 

Nice to have:

  • Experience in cross-browser testing.
  • Experience in automation testing using Python + Robot Framework
  • Experience in API testing (Swagger, Postman).
