Wärtsilä Energy Storage Business is looking for an experienced and energetic person for the position of Strategic Purchaser, Electrical Components. Strategic purchaser will execute the Energy Storage & Optimization global sourcing strategy with a special focus on Electrical components and Subcontracting. Together with the sourcing manager responsible for the Category, the Strategic Purchaser is responsible for controlling, managing and developing a dedicated global supplier base, including sub-contractors, performance and relationships, in close cooperation with relevant stakeholders to meet global sourcing needs and requirements.

 

Position information:

 

This position is permanent and the location is Helsinki, Turku or Vaasa, Finland and the job can partially be done remotely. 
 
Main Responsibilities:  

 

  • Conduct business within established supplier relationships 
  • Research potential sources of supply for purchased products to ensure prices are globally competitive and sufficient production capacity is available within the supply chain
  • Maintain price data, and actively seek cost-reduction opportunities
  • Help support part shortages and delivery issues when necessary
  • Monitor supplier lead times and production capacity improvement initiatives to ensure schedule flexibility
  • Lead regular supplier meetings and forums towards partnership in own responsibility area
  • Carry out development, negotiation and implementation of supplier contracts 
  • Identify and communicate internally any supplier risks, concerns or opportunities
  • Support cost recovery initiatives, identify opportunities for cost and obsolete avoidance 
  • Support problem-resolution discussions with suppliers and ensure the adequacy and timeliness of supplier correction action plans 
  • Ensure compliance with Supply Management processes, procedures, strategies and agreements
  • Enhance collaboration and teamwork with relevant functions and continuously improve the sourcing process 

 
Requirements: 

 

  • Solution-oriented, pro-active, problem-solving and result-driven team-player attitude to work  
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and changing environment 
  • Systematic way of working, interest and capability to manage details, excellent skills in Excel  
  • Academic degree (B.Sc. or equivalent) in Electrical or Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or Economics 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing or procurement with a proven track record of results 
  •  Analytical, communication and presentation skills 
  • Ability to negotiate and build relationships
  • Experience in supplier agreement-making 
  • Fluent in written and spoken English language
  • Experience in dynamic and complex project-based business environments such as energy storage
