Wärtsilä Energy Business is looking for a Supply Quality Assurance Manager for the Energy Storage & Optimization business. The role will be part of the Supplier Development and Quality Assurance in Supply Management group.

 

For the global Energy Storage supplier base, the Supply Quality Assurance Manager is accountable for the product quality assurance and control at suppliers as well as for suppliers compliance and continuous improvement of performance in terms of quality, delivery accuracy, lead time reduction, and productivity improvements to ensure conformance with product and project requirements as well as first time right deliveries.

 

This position will be based in Finland (Helsinki, Vaasa, Turku).

 

Main Responsibilities:  

  • Coach and Develop:
    • Mentor and coach Supply Quality Experts and Engineers to enhance their skills and capabilities. This role involves dotted-line reporting from SQEs and does not include administrative or HR responsibilities.
  • Manufacturing Process Knowledge:
    • Proficient understanding of manufacturing processes is required, including expertise in special processes such as welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), and painting.
  • Competency Management:
    • Ensure the availability of the right competencies and sufficient resources within the Supply Quality Assurance team.
  • Inspection and Testing Plan:
    • Collaborate with suppliers to develop and validate inspection and testing methods. This role requires defining processes, tools, equipment, and ongoing controls. Proficiency in creating and managing Inspection and Testing Plans (ITP) is essential.
  • Quality Planning:
    • Plan and execute quality inspections and audits at suppliers to ensure strict adherence to Wärtsilä quality requirements.
  • Issue Analysis and Resolution:
    • Analyze reported quality issues and audit findings, identify root causes, and collaborate with suppliers to implement corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of quality defects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Participate in product teams with cross-functional members to qualify and improve supplier manufacturing processes and inspection methods.
  • Supplier Product Evaluation:
    • Execute activities related to the evaluation of supplier products.

 

Desired Requirements:

  • Extensive Experience:
    • 10+ years of quality assurance and control experience in power systems, renewables, energy storage, or a related industry.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels in a multicultural environment.
  • Analytical Abilities:
    • Familiarity with analytical techniques commonly used to investigate component defects, coupled with the capability to handle both administrative and technical tasks.
  • Results Orientation:
    • Strong bias for action and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Self-Driven and Motivated:
    • Self-driven and self-motivated individual with a commitment to continuous learning and applying knowledge to achieve results.
  • Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems on the manufacturing line.
  • Root Cause Analysis:
    • Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis, utilizing problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa, Reality Charting/Apollo.
  • Solution-Oriented Approach:
    • Strong solution-oriented approach with the capability to implement and persistently follow up on activities to ensure sustainability and quality.
  • Travel Requirement:
    • Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Language Proficiency:
    • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
