Wärtsilä’s Energy Business is looking for a Documentation and ECO Specialist for the Energy Storage & Optimization business. The role will be part of the hardware engineering team.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter that can work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. The candidate should thrive in a fast paced, constantly changing environment while the industry and company go through substantial growth.


Preferred location(s) for this position is Wärtsilä’s location in Herndon, VA.



  • Develop, and maintain Engineering Change Order (ECO), Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Manufacturing Change Order (MCO) process
  • Create and maintain parts, Bill of Merial (BOM) and document numbering system
  • Create and maintain filing structure for product and project related documentation
  • Create change management program for product and project functions
  • Sustain change management activities
  • Work directly with the engineers and project team as documentation liaison in organizing the change management function
  • Research, and implement scalable business solution to continuously improve change management processes
  • Collaborate with the larger team to optimize requirement and needs
  • Ensure processes are followed utilizing quality management system
  • Drive continues improvement
  • Collaborate in a team environment and/or take charge of opportunities to develop optimal solutions.


Minimum Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 5+ years of documentation and engineering change management experience
  • Working Knowledge of project and product structure, BOM and change management
  • Maintain positive working relationships with peers, subordinates, vendors, shop and office in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of good documentation practices
  • Flexible and willing to adapt and learn
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player attitude internally and externally
  • Entrepreneurial drive with hunter mind-set
  • Willing to travel 10% of the time
