GENERAL MANAGER, HARDWARE PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

We are seeking a leader to head our Hardware Product Management team and drive the commercialization and product strategy of our award‑winning GridSolve Quantum platform and third-party collaborations.  This role reports to the VP, Hardware Product Management and Engineering (Energy Storage Business).  Preferred locations are Herndon, VA, or Toronto, Canada; remote work is available for the ideal candidate located in the U.S. or Canada Eastern Time Zone.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Define product requirements and regional market needs.
  • Partner with Business Development and Sales to develop go‑to‑market strategies.
  • Translate customer, market, and competitive insights into product roadmaps.
  • Represent the company at industry events and engage directly with prospects.
  • Establish development priorities based on business objectives and market analysis.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of product management experience; BESS experience required.
  • Strong hardware product management expertise and communication skills.
  • Deep knowledge of energy and power markets in one or more of the following regions: United States, Australia, UK, or Europe.
  • Utility‑scale renewable and energy storage experience required; global experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage processes across geographically distributed teams.

 

Role Expectations

The successful candidate will:

  • Understand energy storage buyers, their needs, and how our solutions deliver value.
  • Possess strong knowledge of BESS applications and the competitive landscape.
  • Lead voice‑of‑customer initiatives and market research efforts.
  • Develop product requirement documents aligned with business and marketing plans.
  • Support customer‑facing documentation and product launch activities.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams including Sales, Operations, Customer Support, Lifecycle, and Marketing.
  • Maintain and update technical and competitive intelligence resources.
  • Partner with Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, Lifecycle, and Supply Chain to ensure product alignment.
  • Support and train sales teams and channel partners on the solution value proposition.
  • Monitor regulatory and market changes affecting energy storage opportunities.
  • Support proposals, RFP responses, and customer presentations.
  • Evaluate total customer cost and recommend optimal trade‑offs across the product lifecycle.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; MBA preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in matrixed environments without direct authority.
  • Strong prioritization and coordination skills for development activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal English.
  • Expected travel: approximately 25–50%, depending on location.
  • Independent, self‑starter with the ability to thrive amid evolving technology and market conditions.
