Senior Software Project Manager

The primary function of this role is to accelerate our software products delivery and support our development teams. The role will be an integral part of the Software Engineering teams in a Research and Development roles, supporting new product development initiatives in the field of Energy Storage & Optimization.

The location for this position is Herndon, Virginia. This role will be a hybrid position.

Essential Responsibilities 
• Expertise in accelerating software development.
• Ability to capture the vision of our projects and effectively organize priorities to bring that vision to life.
• Skilled in developing and managing detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables.
• Proficient in analyzing business and technical requirements, as well as documenting comprehensive specifications.
• Expertise in working with stakeholders and addressing concerns to facilitate smooth project execution.
• Solid understanding of project budgeting and financial tracking to meet cost objectives.
• Experience in identifying and managing risks and issues to maintain project alignment and keep projects on track.
• Hands-on experience managing projects using Agile frameworks and methodologies.
• Proven ability to deliver projects utilizing the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and the Atlassian suite.
• Strong analytical skills for addressing complex problems and driving project decisions.

Qualifications/Requirements 

• 10+ years of experience in developing, managing, or delivering IT software development projects involving complex, high-transaction volume, customer-facing software applications.
• Demonstrated software project management experience and accomplishment with commercial software product companies.
• Demonstrated ability to capture and document requirement. • Solid technical background in software development 
• Agile methodology and proficient in issue tracking tools such as Atlassian tools. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication and skills 
• Excellent organizational and people skills 
• Attention to detail in the context of managing multiple software projects simultaneously. 
• Previous hands-on coding experience

Desired Characteristics 
• Embedded software experience • Experienced working in STEM context.  
• Prior experience with production systems running advanced statistical algorithms and machine learning.
• Strong leadership record with active participation in renewable energy associations, forums, clubs, or groups.
