Area Quality Development Manager - Americas

The Wärtsilä Energy Business – Americas team has a vacancy for an Area Quality Development Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Area Quality Improvement actions including supporting Regions with advanced expertise on Quality and Management Systems matters.
  • Lead the Area Quality Development Team to support Business Line, Business Unit and Global Working Groups initiatives and local initiatives.
  • Using contemporary Quality Management, Quality Assurance and Quality Control concepts, develop specific programs designed to improve competence and reduce overall costs of non-conformities.
  • Lead the continuous improvement effort in AMER through coaching, facilitation and analysis using the WCI model.
  • Assess quality improvement data, trends and develop improvement plans.
  • Champion the Root Cause Analysis as-a-service program.
  • Represent AMER in global working groups related to quality and management systems. 
  • Act as the key contact for Area in Quality development, implementation, monitoring and training activities related to quality and management systems.
  • As a member of the global Management Systems Working Team, review, update, and implement global procedures and provide timely feedback towards stakeholders for possible enhancement needs.
  • Act as key contact towards external certification bodies to include support of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and SA8000 certifications as well as customer-specific certification programs.
  • Act as specialist support for local organisations towards customers in customer complaint cases needing escalation or global or advanced support.
  • Secure management system adequacy and development in line with global directives.
  • Manage certification structure implementation for newly acquired companies and transition for divestitures.
  • Manage Audit planning and implementation follow up for Area, including feedback to global functions and other Areas of challenges and development needs
  • Participate as lead auditor and trainer for internal auditors.
  • Oversee, develop and secure compliance of Area level documentation - mainly legal requirements and/or language needs.
  • Define and implement Area wide yearly training plan(s) and secure QEHS competence development.
  • Secure compliance to Area EHS legal requirements in regions.
  • Manage the process of group sustainability reporting, including development and streamlining of the same.

 

Requirements

  • Relevant bachelors or master’s academic degree (e.g. In engineering, manufacturing or quality).
  • 5 – 10 years’ experience in QA and QC in manufacturing, services, or related industrial environment.
  • Understanding of different management systems and what is needed from business perspective.
  • Track record of leading and facilitating a change in a global multi-functional and cross divisional environment.
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills, virtually and in a global environment.
  • Positive, hands on and solution oriented working style and an excellent ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with peers and stakeholders.
  • English proficiency.
