Business Controller AMER - Energy Region North and Energy Storage Region North

 

We are looking for a Business Controller for Wartsila’s Americas Region – Energy Region North and Energy Storage Region North. The preferred locations for this position are the Greater Houston TX area and the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area, however remote option may be considered.

 

What will you be doing

As a Business Controller, you will be a business and commercial-minded consultant-like partner. You will partner up with other functions outside of Finance, especially Sales and Operations, e.g. Regional Operation Manager, Business Development Managers, and Project Controllers. You must be proactive, externally-focused and future-oriented, utilizing strong networking and influencing skills. You will build business plans and identify opportunities and risks. The Business Controller is a fact-based challenger who defines ways to measure and report on financial and operational key indicators to grow the top line, improve results and strengthens the cash flow. The Business Controller is a Member of EB Region Management Teams, participating in implementing Wärtsilä’ strategy and action plans, as well as the overall development of the respective business in the EB Regions. The Business Controller translates results, figures and trends into understandable language, strengthens the internal cooperation and brings controlling closer to the business. Business Controller is responsible for developing and maintaining close cooperation and communication with FSAS, WSSC, COGG and other stakeholders.

 

As Business Controller you will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Ensure reliable and high-quality financial information is in place necessary to steer and develop the growth and development of the Energy Business Regions; partner with key stakeholders to enable informative decisions that will maximize business results.
  • Ensure development of business analytics and intelligence to drive data driven decision making and those analytics are used to benefit Energy Business.
  • Based on financial business information, proactively analyse business opportunities and make proposals for business development.
  • Hold business accountable for delivering business results and acting in the best interests of Wärtsilä.
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, reporting, monthly closing and other finance related activities, which will guide area management towards achieving sustained profitability, in compliance with Corporate guidelines (corporate manual, accounting manual, directives etc) and IFRS/IAS.
  • Ensure that the Wärtsilä global initiatives, processes and tools are implemented within own responsibility area.
  • As a member of the management teams, participate in defining the strategies and action plans as well as the overall development of the respective Energy Business Regions.
  • Drive a cultural change into learn fast / scale fast approach, as well as strong focus on cross team cooperation.
  • Based on financial business information proactively analyses business opportunities and make proposals for business development.
  • Build a network with decision makers and influencers.
  • Alerts, recommendations and simulations / insights.
  • Market screening and involvement in possible acquisitions.
  • Training/coaching EB Regions' teams on relevant processes and financial awareness.
  • Act as a business partner for Sales & Sales Support to ensure profitable growth and customer satisfaction, providing financial expertise and know-how and participating in structuring deals.
  • Act as a business partner for operations to maximise profitability, advising on business specific changes, opportunity and risks.
  • Lead and coordinate forecasting process and KPIs definition.
  • Based on financial business information proactively analyses business opportunities and make proposals for business development.
