We are looking for an Electricity Markets & Policy Analyst to join our dynamic, decarbonization-focused Energy organization for the Americas region. This position may be in Wartsila’s Houston office, Ft. Lauderdale office, or remote within North America. What will you be doing? As an Electricity Markets & Policy Analyst, you will Support the sales organization with:

 

1. Market Studies

2. Project Feasibility

3. Technology Comparison Studies

4. Renewable Energy Storage – Hybrid Studies

5. Customers, Consultants & Energy Stakeholders’ interactions. 

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

• Support the sales organisation with: (i) Technology comparison studies, (ii) feasibility and tariff studies, (iii) hybrid versus stand-alone analyses and (iv) market studies

• Conduct market and country analyses which support project and market development initiatives

• Participate in and provide support for our global market development activities with power system modelling using Plexos power system optimization software and Excel-based tools; analyse results and quantify system-level benefits

• Participate actively in front-line market development by identifying key stakeholders and engaging in customer dialogues and influencing

• Participate in various initiatives such as energy stakeholders advocacy to provide information to consultants

• Support Market Development, Sales and Marketing with relevant information on markets and data for power system analysis and sales project screening

• Support with preparation of bid proposals, project development structuring and implementation, negotiating project agreements, and arranging project finance (debt and equity)

• Develop and maintain the financial models and feasibility calculation tools. Job Detail: Electricity Markets & Policy Analyst Main Requirements

• Support Market Development, Sales and Marketing with relevant information on markets and data for power system analysis and sales project screening

• Support with preparation of bid proposals, project development structuring and implementation, negotiating project agreements, and arranging project finance (debt and equity)

• Develop and maintain the financial models and feasibility calculation tools. To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

• The ideal candidate has an advanced degree in economics, finance, operations research, computer science, or other quantitatively focused discipline and a general understanding of modern electric power systems.

• Previous work experience related to energy, renewables, oil and gas or economics

• A positive and proactive approach and demonstrate ownership and responsibility for driving your own work. 

• Excellent analytical skills, a good understanding of financial analysis, as well as advanced skills in MS tools.

• Most important at this stage is that you are a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills, interest in energy business and excitement to travel.
