Project Development Summer Intern, Energy Business
The Wärtsilä Energy Business – North America team has a vacancy for a Project Development Summer Intern.
As a Project Development Intern, you will support our team in advancing opportunities in the energy sector, focusing on financial modeling, feasibility assessments, and project screening. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to key development projects, working closely with seasoned professionals to analyze and evaluate infrastructure opportunities while gaining exposure to secondary aspects of project execution.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and update financial models to evaluate project feasibility, economic returns, and investment decisions.
2. Conduct market research and opportunity assessments for potential project locations and energy infrastructure.
3. Support the preparation of feasibility studies and project screening documentation for internal decision-making.
4. Analyze energy project data, including market trends, capacity factors, and technology performance metrics.
5. Collaborate on preparing investor presentations and business case documents.
6. Assist in secondary tasks such as permitting, construction planning, operational workflows, and negotiating land leases as needed.
7. Perform due diligence activities, including site and environmental assessments, under supervision.
Requirements:
• Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and quantitative analysis (Excel, financial tools/software).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and research skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Interest in energy, infrastructure, and sustainable development.
