What will you be doing
As a Navigation Engineer, you will perform complex field service activities related to navigation equipment, including repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting on ocean-going vessels.
As a Navigation Engineer (Radar), you will focus on these responsibilities:
- Provide maintenance and repair services to ships' navigation, communication, and control equipment, often under challenging and time-sensitive conditions to minimize vessel downtime and ensure compliance with international maritime regulations.
- Responsibilities: Inspections, testing and repairing IBS components (RADAR / AIS / GPS / GMDSS / Autopilot / Gyrocompass / communications and safety equipment).
- Troubleshoot system faults and effect system repairs.
- Use technical manuals, schematics and diagnostic tools to solve equipment issues.
- Installation and Commissioning: Install, calibrate / commission new Integrated Bridge Systems on vessels, including complex integrations with navigation and control systems.
- Technical support / Customer service: Provide remote and on-site (as needed) technical support to vessel crews.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have/be:
Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree in marine engineering / electrical and / or electronics engineering or related fields.
- 3-5 years field experience preferred.
- Experience working on large vessels or in marine service industries a plus.
- Technical expertise: In-depth knowledge of Integrated Bridge Systems, including navigation and communication equipment (e.g., radar, ECDIS, autopilot, GPS, AIS, VHF radios).
- Strong electrical, electronic, and mechanical skills.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex systems under pressure, particularly during vessel operations.
- Physical and mental endurance: Capable of working in demanding environments, including at sea or in remote locations, often with tight deadlines.
- Flexibility to travel frequently for service jobs and handle extended periods away from home.
- Communication and customer relations: Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues and solutions clearly to non-technical personnel.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Willingness and ability to travel for at least 60% of work time

This position requires a commitment to travel for a minimum of 60% of work time, encompassing both domestic and international destinations, including onshore and offshore locations. The role demands adaptability to varying travel demands, with an expectation of extended periods away from the primary work location.
