Remote Expert, Expertise Center

At Wärtsilä, with our innovative energy solutions, we want to be leading the transition towards a 100% renewable energy future. To join us in this journey to make this happen, we are looking for a Remote Expert for our Expertise Center to complement our technical expert team in Americas with skills, dedication and a sense of adventure. We are building a new state-of-the-art expertise center to support our power plant and energy storage customers with latest technologies like remote connectivity and data-based troubleshooting. This permanent position can be working remotely from anywhere on US mainland.

 

This is a unique opportunity for you to join us and shape the transitioning energy market and the energy business at Wärtsilä. As the Remote Expert, you will set up remote connections with our customer’s installation in order to provide technical support to our customers. Researching, collecting, and reporting information related to agreements, contracts, and support improvements in the industry and beyond that would benefit Wartsila would also be expected. You will work in a team of experts in the center and they will also coordinate the work of other cross organizational professionals.

Accountabilities:

  • To minimize the unplanned maintenances impact in installations under service agreements in the assigned area.
  • Remotely monitor and troubleshoot customer’s installations to improve performance; use data to predict possible technical failures.
  • Human Capital maintenance and development.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Make analysis with adequate conclusions and recommendations (reports) for how to solve complex operational problems of the customer. Report the related work progress to relevant stakeholders.
  • Report and propose improvement needs of the products and solutions for relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Take ownership and development responsibility of assigned operational technical expertise area.
  • Participate in product developments and product improvement projects.
  • Provide operational support to internal and external customers.
  • Analyse field experience and customer feedback data in order to improve the products and solutions as well as operation and maintenance of the installation.
  • May act as a trainer in special expertise area including e.g. performing trainings as well as developing training programs and materials.
  • Support in operational matters when new products or components are developed and launched.
  • Maintain relationships with cooperation partners.
  • Acquire know-how and follow up the latest global development trends of respective operational expert area.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced operational experts.
  • Participate in customer meetings as an operational expert, when complex operational problems are handled.

 

Development responsibilities

  • To support building a competitive and motivated team supporting the Contract Management organization.
