We are looking for a Sales Manager to join our dynamic, fast-paced, safety-minded Marine sales team.
The position is permanent, and the preferred location is Houston, Texas. Although Fort Lauderdale (FL), Melbourne (FL), Herndon (VA) and New Orleans (VA), are also possible.
What you will be doing
As Sales Manager, you will play a key role in driving business growth and expanding our footprint in the oil & gas and offshore markets. You will report directly to the Sales General Manager for the US and Canada.
As Sales Manager your work will focus on these responsibilities:

Manage and develop assigned customer accounts, ensuring long-term satisfaction and commercial success.

Conduct regular customer visits based on weekly/monthly planning, fostering trust and identifying new opportunities.

Identify and cultivate relationships with potential customers to expand market presence.

Collaborate closely with internal delivery functions and product lines to ensure feasibility and seamless execution.

Coordinate sales activities for global or cross-country customers with relevant colleagues.

Maintain accurate CRM records, including Customer Visits, Opportunities, and Account Plans.

Monitor and manage the sales pipeline for consistent progress and forecasting accuracy.

Maintain accurate sales estimations across all Marine business lines.

Proactively manage receivables and liaise with accounting on resolution actions.

Collect and communicate market intelligence and competitor insights to inform strategy.

Contribute to new build order intake, supporting Wärtsilä’s full-cycle Marine business strategy.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the marine industry.

System and Product Knowledge: Solid knowledge of Wärtsilä’s Marine product portfolio, including engines, propulsion systems, hybrid solutions, and energy management technologies. Familiar with using of the general Microsoft software and tools for online meetings.
Preferred qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

Prior experience in sales or customer-facing roles is a strong asset.

Established relationships with key stakeholders in the oil and gas and offshore market are highly desirable.
In this role, travel is required to meet with customers, primarily within the United States. While most meetings are held virtually, team members based in the Houston area can expect to travel approximately 30% of the time, as many customers are local. For those located outside Houston, travel may increase to around 50%, mostly domestic. Additionally, some international travel may be required depending on customer needs and project scope.
