We are now looking for a Sales Support Manager – Region North to join our team working for a better future.
This is a permanent position based in Houston, Texas, following a hybrid work schedule with 2 days per week in the office.
What You Will Be Doing
You will lead a team of Sales Support Engineers within the transactional sales organisation for the Energy business in the Region North. Reporting to the General Manager, Service Sales Region North, you will be responsible for driving long-term profitable growth through strategic planning, operational excellence, and customer-focused proposal management.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the sales support team, including planning activities, setting goals, and ensuring efficient, high-quality support to the transactional sales function.
- Oversee the transactional sales proposals process for field services in Region North.
- Manage quote-to-order processes, ensuring effective quote generation and order processing.
- Develop and adapt value propositions and winning proposals to meet internal and external customer needs and market developments.
- Collaborate with regional sales and delivery functions to exceed customer expectations.
- Ensure consistent proposal tracking, documentation, and quality across all team outputs.
- Lead CRM data management, sales funnel improvement, and opportunity follow-up.
- Promote a continuous improvement mindset and cross-departmental cooperation.
- Serve as a value-added liaison with Business Unit counterparts and other Areas to maintain customer focus and proactive drive.
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering, Economics, Business or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years in a leadership role, with proven ability to guide teams and deliver results.
- Strategic mindset with long-term business forecasting capabilities.
- Strong planning and execution skills.
- Coaching and team development abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
- Strong understanding of Wärtsilä’s energy product portfolio and its customer value.
- CRM systems expertise.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a global matrix organisation.
- Familiarity with field services and transactional sales in the energy sector.
- Fluency in Spanish.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Experience reviewing contracts and terms; familiarity with complex agreements is a plus.
- Proficient in SAP, with working knowledge of Power BI and QlikView for reporting and analytics.
Travel Requirements
In this role, some domestic and international travel is required. Expect to travel approximately 20% of the time.
