Senior Business Development Manager, Commercial Energy Business

Wärtsilä is seeking a Business Development Manager, Engine Power Plants to join our team in Wärtsilä North America, reporting to the Energy Business Director, Engine Power Plants. The preferred location for this position is Houston TX, but is open to remote work within the US.

What will you be doing

As a Senior Business Development Manager, you will be accountable for the entire sales process, from creating demand through originating engine power plant solutions sales through closing profitable opportunities for New Build and Service Agreements in North America.

The ideal candidate has a Masters' degree in Business Management, Sales or a field of study that is relative to this role. 

• Responsible for leading face to face negotiations with customers to secure contracts
• Direct customer interaction with responsibility to close complex Project opportunities for North America, principally the USA & Canada
• Work collaboratively and proactively with both Finland based Project leadership and support staff to ensure the maximum leverage of Wartsila strengths, relationships and resources 
• Previous experience and an understanding of the systematic  approach to assessing and developing project sales in all aspects, including a demonstrated ability to identify and understand the customer’s buying & funding cycle in order to prioritize opportunities
• Have the ability to know when, who and how to influence Project & Agreements and personnel in Wartsila
• A comprehensive understanding of the North American energy market energy business players • Follows established sales and proposal processes
• A multi-year track record of major project &/or Agreement sales success (including greater than $25 million USD per agreement or project)
