Senior Manager, Market Development 

 

We are looking for a Senior Manager for Market Development to join our Sales & Marketing team for Energy Business in the Americas Region. The preferred location for this position is Houston TX.

 

What will you be doing

As a Senior Manager, Market Development, you will assess opportunities in markets across North America and determine prospects for opening up other new markets for Wartsila's storage and flexible gas generation.

 

The ideal candidate has a degree in Business Management and 10+ years of experience relative to this role.

 

As a Senior Manager,Market Development, you will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Develop utility portfolio RPS transition proposals (with support from our modelling team) and recommendations for utility action plans/resource expansion and argumentation
  • Proactively advocate and communicate Wartsila's positions to regulatory agency management and staff, and other stakeholders like utility customers, while also ensuring key policies and proceedings are identified and acknowledged 
  • Work with outside counsel, lobbyists, trade groups, and consultants to promote Wartsila's interest in proceedings; develop relationships with stakeholders including IOU's, municipalities, load serving entities, developers, commission staff, generators, trade groups, system operators and transmission providers
  • Track wholesale market, transmission and regional balancing authority policies and procedures. Develop comments and responses to regulation, tariff and other policy modifications as deemed necessary
  • Oversee and develop proceeding schedules, including detailed task descriptions, required resources and task assignments, etc. to maximize performance and assure timely filings are provided
  • Prepare reports, matrices, procedural documentation, models, and other deliverables for internal and external use
  • Coordinate and work with Wartsila's team to translate Wartsila's policy into day-to-day initiatives 
  • Develop Wartsila's positions and advocacy strategies on assigned FERC policy issues including FERC gas issues, rulemakings, and investigations
  • Communicate results of designated regulatory agency Board meetings

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Ability to work independently and effectively advocate with peers
  • Market expertise in field of operation
  • Utility Resource Planning experience
  • Market Policy Development experience
  • Ability to design regulatory and legislative policies.
  • Exceptional communication skills to encompass both written and verbal
  • Confidence and competence in presenting to large groups
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience as it applies to the requirements of this role
