Senior Service Engineer – Mechanical, Energy Business

The Wärtsilä Energy Business – North Region team has a vacancy for a Senior Service Engineer, Mechanical.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical field service activities including, major repairs and overhauls of reciprocating internal combustion engines (RICE) as well as accompanying auxiliary equipment.
  • Prepare service work reports and other relevant documentation related to site visits.
  • Support New Build and Commissioning teams on projects delivery.
  • Identify and solve technical and operating problems at our customer power plants.
  • Prepare and present analytical reports with adequate conclusions and recommendations.
  • Manage and maintain good relationships with customers during service execution.
  • Take the ownership of technical discussions and facilitate technical point of contact between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Propose product improvement needs to achieve quality and cost targets and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Be able to travel to our customer facilities for service attendance within Canada, U.S and the Caribbean.
  • Be able to travel for service jobs about 80% of the year

Desired Education

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a technical trade school diploma

Desired Skills and Experience

The applicant should have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience leading field service activities on:

  • Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines (RICE)
  • Diesel or heavy fuel engines
  • Gas and or dual fuel engines
  • Fuel oil or gas injection systems
  • Engines auxiliary systems (separators, radiators, fuel and air systems)
  • Strong focus on safety protocols and QEHS standards

Travel Requirements: This position requires a 70% travel commitment, encompassing both domestic and international, including onshore and offshore locations. The role demands adaptability to varying travel demands, with an expectation of extended periods away from the primary work location. Prospective candidates should be prepared to fulfil these travel obligations as an integral aspect of the position's responsibilities.
