Service Engineer 2-Stroke

Position Location: Houston, Texas


Wärtsilä’s Marine Power Business is looking for a Service Engineer 2 Stroke to join our dynamic and safety-minded Field Services team.


As a Service Engineer 2 Stroke, you will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Perform Field Service activities on 2-stroke engines according to the work scope.
  • Perform advanced mechanical and related troubleshooting on 2-stroke engines and ancillary equipment.
  • Perform 2-stroke Field Service activities, self-dependent and in a team.
  • Interact with customers during the work execution.
  • Interacting with FS back office and TS during work execution.
  • Perform internal and external progress status up-dates of the assigned work.
  • Create the Service Work Reports.
  • Proactively consulting, advising and promoting available Wartsila solutions and products to customer.


To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Engine maintenance experience (2-stroke preferred).
  • Bachelor of Science in a related field (Mechanical Engineering, Ship Operation, Marine engineering) is preferred.
  • Willing and able to travel 80% of the time.
  • Strong mechanical skills.
  • Electrical/automation knowledge.
