Service Technician – Reciprocating Engines Controls, Energy Business

The Wärtsilä Energy Business – North Region team has a vacancy for a Service Technician, Reciprocating Engine Controls.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support technical and operational troubleshooting at our customer’s engine power plants.
• Support preventative maintenance activities according to maintenance programs.
• Support New Build and Commissioning teams on project delivery.
• Manage and maintain good relationships with the customer during work execution.
• Participate in customer meetings as local support for electrical and automation scope.
• Support the E&A team with upgrades to existing control systems.
• Be able to travel to our customer facilities for service attendance within Canada, US and the Caribbean.
• Be on service jobs about 80% of the year.

Desired Education

• Technical or Associate’s Degree or equivalent diploma/work experience

Desired Skills and Experience

The candidate should have work experience with:

• Reading and implementing schematics.
• Routing and terminating cable.
• Installing instruments.
• Calibrating instruments.
• Point to point testing.
• Industrial Settings.
• Exposure to standard industrial network protocols (Modbus TCP, Profibus, CAN-bus, CIP, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNET, ControlNET, Industrial Ethernet etc.)(Preferred)
• Exposure to Reciprocating Gas Engine Control Systems (Wärtsilä, MAN, MaK, Caterpillar, Bergen etc) (Preferred)

Additional Skills:

• Excellent leadership and collaboration skills
• Good electrical knowledge
• Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
• Strong focus on safety protocols and QEHS standards
• Must be able to work independently and with a team
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)

Travel Requirements: This position requires a 70% travel commitment, encompassing both domestic and international, including onshore and offshore locations. The role demands adaptability to varying travel demands, with an expectation of extended periods away from the primary work location. Prospective candidates should be prepared to fulfil these travel obligations as an integral aspect of the position's responsibilities.
