Job Description: Technical Advisor, Mechanical
Position Summary
The Technical Advisor, Mechanical provides hands-on technical support to daily power plant operations and planned mechanical activities. Reporting directly to the Technical Advisor, Agreement, this role focuses on ensuring high-quality maintenance execution, supporting customer teams, monitoring plant mechanical performance, and contributing to safe and reliable operation of the facility.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Technical Support
- Support the customer in daily operational activities, ensuring mechanical systems function reliably and efficiently.
- Assist with and supervise planned mechanical tasks at the customer site, ensuring proper execution and adherence to technical procedures.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and escalate to the Technical Advisor, Agreement or internal specialists when necessary.
- Review site procedures to verify accuracy, consistency, and compliance with quality and safety standards.
Maintenance Quality & Standards
- Ensure all mechanical work meets required quality expectations and manufacturer specifications.
- Provide guidance on mechanical maintenance best practices and help the customer improve mechanical reliability and availability.
- Advise the customer on mechanical inventory risks, including safety stock levels, exchange counts, and appropriate min/max levels.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor mechanical aspects of plant health and key KPIs, including heat rate, electrical output, lube oil consumption, fuel consumption, availability, and reliability.
- Identify deviations, trends, or areas requiring corrective actions and report them to the supervising Technical Advisor.
Customer Interaction & Support
- Maintain strong working relationships with customer personnel, offering mechanical expertise and recommendations for improved performance.
- Support the development and training of the customer’s mechanical and operations team by sharing knowledge and promoting best practices.
- Share opportunities to enhance customer support, system performance, or maintenance strategies with management.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Strong mechanical background with experience in power generation, heavy industrial equipment, or engine-based plants.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical troubleshooting, planned maintenance, and component-level inspection/repair.
- Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, manuals, and drawings.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with customer teams and internal personnel.
- Proactive, safety-focused mindset with attention to quality and reliability.
- Familiarity with performance KPIs and plant monitoring tools (training on internal tools will be provided).
