TECHNICIAN, IN-SITU MACHINING

 

We are looking for a IN-SITU MACHINING TECHNICIAN to join our Marine Power Field Service team in Houston TX.

 

What will you be doing:

 

As a IN-SITU MACHINING TECHNICIAN, you will perform machining work in both the workshop and in the field. The ideal candidate will have an Engineering degree and at least 2 years of experience as a skilled machinist.

 

As a IN-SITU MACHINING TECHNICIAN, you will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Perform In-situ machining work on Wartsila and other products
  • Perform Machining work in workshop environment or in the field.
  • Perform Metal Stitching on customers components
  • Promote Wärtsilä Products and Services.
  • Prepare Service reports and travel expenses on time and with expected Wartsila and QuantiServ quality
  • Perform engine and crankshaft inspections
  • Provide internal and external work reports according to Wärtsilä and QuantiServ standards.
  • Perform site audits.
  • Collect and organize time and expense reports. Reporting and informing administrative personnel as required.
  • Participate in working groups and build team spirit.
  • Report executed work according to Wärtsilä and QuantiServ standards.
  • Safely execute all work according to Wärtsila and QuantiServ standards

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Completed High school  or completed Vocational school in machining/machinist field.
  • 1 year of workshop machining, and experience with:
  • Drilling, tapping, reaming
  • Lathe operation
  • Milling machine
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Use of measuring equipment
  • First-hand experience with any of the below is ideal  

    • Line-boring, using boring bars
    • Use of laser and optical alignment equipment
    • Tool calibration and verification
    • Metal stitching
    • In-situ crankshaft machining
  •  Advanced English
  • Information Management skills to include proficiency with:
    • MS Office tools
    • IM applications and IM tools
  • Wärtsilä knowledge preferred
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills & customer relations
  • Motivated to learn and grow professionally
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to work with people of different nationalities
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Necessary travel availability
