Wärtsilä, a SMART technology company, is seeking a Warehouse Associate to join our team working for a better future.
The position is permanent, and the location is Houston, TX. The role is shift‑based and may require overtime and occasional weekend work depending on operational needs.
What You Will Be Doing?
In this role, you will support day‑to‑day warehouse operations in Houston, ensuring accurate, timely, and safe handling of materials and spare parts. You will work in a fast‑paced warehouse environment with constant activity, supporting inbound, outbound, inventory, and local transportation needs.
You will be part of a small, collaborative warehouse team and will interact daily with internal stakeholders, truck drivers, vendors, and occasionally customers. This role requires a hands‑on mindset, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional when working with different personalities and under pressure.
The role reports to the Warehouse Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Perform inbound warehouse activities, including receiving, counting, inspecting, and stocking materials.
- Execute outbound activities such as picking, packing, and shipping items according to requirements.
- Load and unload trucks and containers safely and efficiently.
- Operate forklifts and hand/power tools in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Conduct visual inspections of inbound, outbound, returned, and claimed goods to identify damage or discrepancies.
- Perform cycle counting activities according to inventory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in SAP and other tools or systems as required.
- Support local transportation and delivery requests when needed.
- Maintain warehouse supplies, tools, and general housekeeping of the warehouse area.
- Communicate proactively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
- Participate in on‑call duty
- Carry out all duties in a safe manner, performing risk assessments and reporting to the line manager when required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and follow established processes and ways of working.
To Be Successful in This Role, We Expect You to Have:
Education:
- High school diploma or technical education in logistics, warehouse operations, or a related field.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or operational environment is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
Skills & Other Requirements:
- Strong safety mindset.
- Team‑oriented attitude with openness to learning and adapting.
- Clear and professional communication skills.
- Willingness to work shifts (typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm with one‑hour lunch),including occasional overtime and weekend work when operationally required.
- Ability to perform physical work in a warehouse environment.
- Experience working with SAP or other warehouse management systems.
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or service warehouse environments.

The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education, individual skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration of internal equity.
