Project Support Engineer, Mumbai

Main responsibilities:



  • Performing allocated works, installations and services, participation in FAT/HAT/SAT, local coordination of works with customer’s representatives and other suppliers (holes drilling, cables type, integration with 3rd party, etc.)
  • 1st & 2nd level technical support for Troubleshooting, technical skills and solution envision, personal and subordinates job planning capabilities.
  • Physical ability to cope with allocated work and travelling.
  • Remote, telephonic, email support to client for reported issues on software & hardware failures. Tracking of reported failure and ensuring the resolution/fixes in stipulated time. Escalating issue if not resolve locally with 1st & 2nd Level Technical Support.
  • Maintaining the log/register of technical issues reported & resolve for record and reference.
  • Maintaining log/register for spares and consumables for ready reference. Ordering/replenishment of consumed spares for future use of contracted period of project.
  • Project technical specifications, system design drawings and scope of supply preparation and review.
  • Identification and evaluation of technical solutions, preferred models and vendors for 3d party equipment which is to be used within the scope of supply
  • Performing customer support by email, phone and on-site, participation in customer visits (onsite/ on board / at shipyards)
  • Performing quality control of completed jobs.
  • Continuous improvement of his professional competence.
  • Following health and safety requirements of TRANSAS/WARTSILA and/or locals whichever applies.
  • Follow Quality Management system requirements.
  • Scope of supply review and validation in accordance with requirements and regulations
  • Estimation and scheduling of project activities
  • Assisting to Project Manager in cost estimations for scope of supply and services.
  • Supervising contractors within allocated scope of activities.
  • Negotiation with local vendors/contractors/clients for the scope of the technical services to be provided by them.
  • Installation activities of STC/SIM/Nav projects and services.
  • Liaising local logistic support, port access passes permissions for Wartsila and Wartsila subcontractor personals.
  • Liaising with client for preparation and submission of Project/CAMC/AMC support services invoices with help of project manager & payment follow-ups with clients.
  • Any other project specific task & roles not mentioned above but falls within responsibility of resident support engineer will be also considered as part of the responsibility. 



Qualifications and Work Experience:


BE / BTech/ Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.

Proficient in MS office.

Proficient in MS Visio and AutoCAD (added benefit).

Fluent in English (spoken & written).


Candidate having 2-3 years of experience as engineer associated with VTS/VTMS & Simulator Projects.

Knowledge & work experience in installation, servicing, commissioning of Marine Navigation equipment’s like Radar, AIS, VHF, VHF DF & data link VHF/UHF Radio data links, Microwave links, VSAT etc.
