We are now looking for a
Sales Support Engineer, Shaft Line Solution (SLS) – Turkey
to join our team working for a better future.
This position reports to the Regional Sales Manager and the preferred location is Istanbul, Turkey.
What you will be doing
In this position, you will be a part of the SLS Area Sales - Central Europe (Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Black Sea & Caspian Sea) Team and will be responsible for Turkey, Black Sea & Caspian Sea, within the global SLS Sales & Delivery organisation. The SLS Area Sales team drives business growth in the Commercial Marine and Navy markets through a proactive sales approach, targeting ship owners, ship management, shipyards, and partners for new builds and lifecycle vessel support. You will work closely with Sales Manager, SLS Sites, Sales Support, and Field Service teams to ensure a first-class customer experience.
As Sales Support Engineer, Shaft Line Solution (SLS) – Turkey, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Generate customer-specific solutions, specifications, FS offers and handover of FS orders to FS team for the SLS portfolio in Commercial & Navy business and projects
- Support the Sales Manager with bid management and follow-up on offers and receivables
- Evaluate inquiries and maintain opportunity information in CRM (Salesforce)
- Support the Sales Manager in configuring solutions according to defined needs
- Prepare cost calculations as directed by Sales and agreed targets
- Evaluate technical and environmental risks of proposed solutions
- Assist the Spare Parts Coordination team in identifying upselling opportunities
- Ensure timely responses to sales inquiries, requests, and orders
- Provide technical assistance to the sales team and customers
- Participate in relevant sales meetings with customers as required
- Organize and perform process handover meetings with involved parties
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- BSc in Engineering or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience in Seals and Bearings or over 3 years in the marine/offshore industry
- Continuous learning attitude and a positive, can-do mindset
- Excellent team-player with the ability to collaborate with local and global stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build business relationships
- Good knowledge of MS Office and CRM (Salesforce)
- Fluent in Turkish (spoken and written) and good proficiency in English; other language skills are a plus
- Willingness to travel as requested
- Attention to detail, proactive mindset, and flexibility
- Goal-oriented with a passion for creating clear business value
Preferred / Plus Qualifications:
- Knowledge of regional markets and products such as lip and mechanical seals, bearings, and other shaft line equipment
- Understanding of Wärtsilä’s purpose and values
- Strong technical and engineering knowledge
