Senior Workshop Technician

We now have an opportunity for a Senior Workshop Technician to join our team working for a better future. The position is permanent and the preferred location is in Istanbul, Turkey.

 

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

  • Perform from basic supporting tasks (like; cleaning, lifting, moving and protecting components) till monitoring and completing the work tasks.
  • All major maintenance of Wartsila Engines.
  • On-site and On-Workshop technical advice and support for Wärtsilä’s network of customers.
  • Complete the maintenance / troubleshooting session(s) according to the Wartsila quality and customer services requirements.
  • Record the measurement data on the relevant document(s), providing internal and external reports when needed.
  • Ensure that the work is executed according to Wartsila Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines.
  • On occasion, support the team leader by supervising small tasks.
  • To be able to carry out overhauling of Engine components independently under instructions of lead Engineers and/or Manager of the department.
  • To have the ability to use measuring tools and similar equipment.
  • To ensure that all work carried out is to specified company standards.

 

To be successful we expect you to have:

  • Technical background, working within an installation or maintenance and repair environment.
  • Flexible approach to work; willing to travel to different customer sites, sometimes at short notice.
  • Safety-first attitude.
  • Awareness of cost and effectiveness, and the impact you can have.
  • Knowledge of Wärtsilä Engines is considered an advantage - O/H expert (32-34SG-46DF-50SG -20DF-Wartsila 38-Wartsila26).
  • Pro-active and independent individual with a team player attitude.
  • Demonstrable problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Good communication and team working ability.
  • Systematic approach to working with strong customer focus.
  • Basic English both spoken and written.
  • Ability to travel approx 20-30%.
  • Being open to learning and being taught.
  • To comply with the training given and demonstrate the desired behaviours.
  • Diploma of a vocational school or similar educational institution. (Industrial Vocational High School and/or Vocational High School Graduate (Preferably from CNC, machine, or related technical school departments))
  • Have done military service.
  • To be residing in the Anatolian side of Istanbul and preferably close to Tuzla
