Customs Key User

Wärtsilä Marine Power, Parts Services, WGLS, Global Customs Management is looking for a Key User in the customs team of the Kampen Central Distribution Centre. This is a permanent position, and you will report to the local Customs Compliance Manager function.

 

What will you be doing?

Through our CDC in Kampen we have spare parts distribution from and to almost all countries across the globe.

Our team is responsible for ensuring customs and trade compliance according to applicable rules, and regulations.

We ensure to have these implemented accordingly into our organization, systems, and processes.

An extensive level of automation is the basis, where we have also introduced robotics into our way-of-working.

Relevant tools are provided to internal stakeholders on training & e-learnings, procedures, guidelines, instructions.

We advise operations on resolution of operational issues and incidents, related to customs and trade compliance.

Our processes are safeguarded by through a solid internal controls framework that is continuously further improved.

Visibility on the level of compliance and customs related costs is created through developments of reports, KPI’s and monitoring & record keeping tools.

We ensure to have the required licenses and authorizations in place with the relevant authorities, such as Customs and Chamber of Commerce.

Our team is continuously monitoring that we will act per the requirements accordingly, where we also continuously keep a customer friendly focus in mind.

 

As the NL Customs Key User, your work will focus on these main responsibilities:

  • Support with customs & trade compliance related projects, process improvements, developments.
  • Support with creating working instructions, updating procedures, creating & executing trainings & E-learnings.
  • Support with monitoring & implementing relevant legislation updates.
  • Support with reports development in tools such as PowerBI, QlikSense & Qlikview.
  • Support with system related enhancements, automations and -issues, keep track on all pending matters and interact accordingly with internal stakeholders and external software companies & authorities.
  • Communicate relevant updates and changes accordingly across the organization.
  • Support with AEO-status and customs licenses related matters such as incidents registration and follow-up, execution and further developing of internal controls and AEO-framework.
  • Oversee the customs & trade compliance processes from end-to-end perspective, so you can support and advise stakeholders accordingly with implementing permanent solutions to prevent issues from reoccurring.
  • Provide support with internal and external audits.
  • Interact on incidents and improvements with other internal teams handling specific customs and trade compliance tasks regarding maintenance of customs related master data, supplier declarations & documents, import handling, export handling.
  • Interact with internal counterparts handling VAT-matters, in relation to export declaration related challenges.
  • Interact with legal and IM teams on export control related matters & developments.

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree.
  • Certification in field of Customs & Trade Compliance, e.g., customs declarant study.
  • Relevant experience, background and understanding of global supply chain processes, customs & trade compliance environment, rules & regulations and have the skills to translate those to clear business requirements and concrete actions.
  • Experience with SAP, SAP-GTS, and customs software programs, such as BluJay and EDO.
  • Basic knowledge of related VAT processes, Inco terms, export control legislation.
  • Interested in IT-environment and handy with computers & systems.
  • Ability & willingness to develop robotics and provide relevant input for reports & systems developments.
  • Good presentation and communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills in English.
  • Team player with strong customer service attitude and ability to work effectively and independently.
  • Experience in working within a global and multi-cultural environment.
