Quality inspector Nuclear Part

Wärtsilä Energy leads the transition towards a 100% renewable energy future. We help our partners to accelerate their decarbonisation journeys through our market-leading technologies and power system modelling expertise. These cover decarbonisation services, future-fuel enabled balancing power plants, hybrid solutions, energy storage and optimisation technology, including the GEMS Digital Energy Platform.

Did you know Wärtsilä has delivered 79 GW of power plant capacity and more than 130 energy storage installations in 180 countries around the world?

In this fast changing world of energy, we are constantly on the lookout for future-oriented talent to join our team and to work towards enabling sustainable societies through innovation in technology and services - together. Want to join the ride?

We are now looking for an experienced, full-time

Quality Inspector – Nuclear Parts / Non-Conformity Expert

to join our Special Applications team, based in various locations and supplying standard, nuclear, and military parts.

This is a permanent position based in Kampen, the Netherlands.

What will you be doing?

As a Quality Inspector – Nuclear Parts / Non-Conformity Expert, you will be at the logistical heart of the nuclear spare parts business. The Wärtsilä Global Logistics Center (CDC) in Kampen manages the full logistics chain of Wärtsilä Spare Parts — from order intake to customer delivery.

You will be responsible for monitoring workshop claims until their resolution, and for controlling product quality for all spare parts supplied by internal and external suppliers to our internationally based nuclear clients. This covers the entire storage lifecycle in the warehouse, up until final delivery.

You will be part of the Special Applications organization. Wärtsilä Energy Business provides lifecycle support for Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) sets at various nuclear power plants. These installations operate under strict nuclear regulations, with full traceability and control required for each critical spare part — including witness and hold points throughout the manufacturing process.

Why this role is needed

Given the growth in spare parts supply, reclassification, and overall volume, our current strategy is to ensure seamless business continuity and deliver high-quality performance to meet increasingly stringent customer requirements.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting thorough inspections of products, materials, and processes to ensure compliance with nuclear industry standards and regulations.
  • Using a variety of inspection techniques and tools to assess quality and detect deviations or defects.
  • Documenting inspection results and maintaining accurate records for reporting purposes.
  • Managing and investigating claims raised by the workshop in Surgères, France, and identifying root causes of non-conformities.
  • Developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions to resolve and prevent issues.
  • Assessing potential risks associated with non-conformities and proposing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure effective risk management and continuous improvement.
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of corrective actions and adjusting as needed.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • A bachelor’s degree in quality management, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in quality control or quality assurance, preferably in the nuclear or a related industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A service mindset and a sense of urgency.
  • Proficiency in using quality inspection tools and software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-team collaboration.
  • Familiarity with SAP ERP systems.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written. French is a plus.

Why you and us?

We at Wärtsilä believe in empowerment, ownership and taking responsibility of our work. We support each other’s growth and co-creation is the true basis of our innovation. We have courage to see opportunities and take initiative.

We are authentic and honest, and we strongly believe in that by being your own true self you can accomplish so much more. That is why we have built an environment that empowers you and everyone around you, and where you can feel safe and cared for. Are you eager to be part of this ambition?

We have an amazing team and we are excited about our work and the impact it has on building sustainable societies. We are looking to find a colleague with this shared passion for smart technologies and a sustainable future.
