Senior Engine Control Specialist

As Senior Engine Control Specialist you will be responsible for: 

Finding, retrieving, uploading, editting and/or tuning software of ordered electrical engine parts.

Maintaining all tune pc’s with required software & processing the calibration from tools used.



  • Releasing production orders out of the tuning workflow, while keeping the delivery date in mind
  • Checking tuning specifications for ordered electrical engine part that was brought to the shop by Logistics.
  • Sending a request to PCM/NC sales when more detailed information about specifications is needed from the customer
  • Finding the right tuning software by using the automated system, Intranet documents or database. If not available, asking TS (Technical Services) department to upload necessary software.
  • Contacting Engine/Propulsion Automation to solve IDM issues for propulsion systems
  • Issuing Tech Request for incorrect or missing component
  • Involving the Quality Department to check quality issues with engine parts
  • Sending reminders for providing the necessary information to take order in treatment.



  • Checking and adjusting spare parts for 4S engine automation, Propulsion automation, 2S engine automation, and Electrical automation
  • Connecting the part to computer to upload software
  • Tuning and configuring the engine part as specified to suit the customers’ needs and avoid over speeding
  • If necessary, tuning manually using tools such as calibrators and digital multi meters for print circuits.
  • Labeling parts with information from the automated system.
  • Testing and simulating the functionality of the component
  • Creating notification in case of functional discrepancy of tuning parts (quality check)
  • Keeping the database with tuning activities up to date
  • Processing S1 orders outside of working hours and on week ends



  • On occasion, modifying software on old-model parts by converting old information, checking parameters, modifying if necessary, uploading to part and send modification to colleague for storage in parts database.
  • Involved in demands from quality department to check the quality and functionality of automation parts in WGLS.
  • Actively involved in callback cases and tests of certain batch cases
  • Powering up of parts in stock to prevent data loss
  • Developing the maintenance process for stored parts in cooperation with TS



  • Ordering, organizing and calibrating tuning tools and equipment. If not available, providing handmade tools.
  • Maintain several tune Windows 7 & XP Dos pc’s, installing virtual engines and XP mode, install all the required programs drivers & propulsion images cq interface modules. And test the correct working of these installed programs.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining the tuning in cooperation with TS and help to expand the scope of tuning parts.
  • Uploading modified software to IDM for storage in Automation database.
  • Supporting TS at finding missing tuning software, settings and documentation. Once found, installing tuning programs, interface tools and equipment mostly by converting old-school programs like DOS, Windows, etc. to today’s programs.
  • Setting up and maintaining software Tuning Access database.
  • Manage escalations cases for complex tuning-related incidents, because of specific technical understanding and knowledge

  • Property damage or human injury or engine downtime is prevented by using the right software and settings for engine part tuning


Non-Financial, Qualitative (Measures)

  • The tuning work is completed on time to meet deadlines for delivery
  • Quality issues are prevented or resolved on time





On numerous Automation control device systems, such as: Unic C1- C3, Wecs 2000-9500, Deuta, Despemes, Spemos, Tufmon, Kongsberg, Sentry, LCS, Many PLC, SW download Kit, Flex temps Units, Woodward 721-723+, Viking V25-V35, etc.


Level of Education:

Electrical Expert, in depth knowledge on the electrical side of Wartsila engines and propulsion parts.


Number of years of experience needed:

At least 5 years as an Service Engineer, Electrical Senior or Superintendent Electrical in the field service.



English Language
