Senior Supplier Development Expert

We are looking for a Senior Supplier Development Expert. In this position, you will be responsible for the Operational Development of Supplier Development tools as well as to plan and execute Supplier Development actions for the defined suppliers across Business Units.


The location for this position is Kampen, Netherlands, or Vaasa, Finland, or Trieste, Italy. The position is permanent.


What will you be doing?


  • Secure Supplier Development (SD) Operational development with a strong focus on Wärtsilä Parts Approval Process (WPAP), Part Quality Assurance Plan (PQAP) and Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) tool.
  • Guarantee the alignment of the SD processes (including Nuclear) and way-of-working within the different Business Units.
  • Actively participate in the development of Wärtsilä's tools and procedures for Supplier Development.
  • Improve quality, delivery and cost related activities by utilizing defined Supplier Development tools (e.g. supplier audit, WPAP, PQAP) on suppliers with major impact on business unit level profit and loss.
  • Support suppliers in initiatives for their operational efficiency enhancement, organizational growth, product improvement through the Wärtsilä Production Improvement Process (WPIP) and/or the Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA / VE), and development activities, as required by business units.
  • Master the utilization of the Supplier Development basic and advanced toolbox by coaching SDEs in Business Units.
  • Proactively coach and train people to understand the supply management strategy and to apply the processes/procedures.


You will shine in this role when you have:


  • Understanding of sourcing principles and Supply Management;
  • Solid experience of Supplier Development toolbox, SAP and Wärtsilä’s reporting tool (Power BI);
  • Advanced process development and project management knowledge coupled with a strong focus on quality, speed and cost;
  • Strong solution-oriented approach, capability to implement and persistency to follow-up activities in order to ensure sustainability and quality;
  • Value stream mapping mind set coupled with extensive experience in working with Continuous Improvement Process tools regarding Quality, Delivery and Cost (Kaizen, 5S, 6 Sigma, TQM, etc.);
  • Several years’ experience in either Supplier Development, Sourcing, Project Management or Quality;
  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering and/or Business or other relevant field.
