As a (Senior) Technical Expert for Propulsion in Technical Services, you will find yourself in the technical heart of the exiting world of the Maritime industry. You serve both internal and external customers with all operational technical inquiries related to Wärtsilä Propulsion Equipment. You will provide this support in the field of installation, maintenance and troubleshooting for related equipment.
You are part of our Technical Services team in Middle East and Asia which ensures customer satisfaction by providing high quality and on-time technical support enabled by world-class competences in propulsion equipment. The propulsion products consist of a variety of Steerable- and Transverse Thrusters, Controllable Pitch Propellers, Reduction Gears, rudders and related control systems.
Location: Kobe, Japan. Other locations may be considered.
What are your main tasks and responsibilities?
- You ensure customer satisfaction by providing high quality and on-time support enabled by world-class competences in propulsion equipment.
- Be responsible for handling Technical Requests received from customers.
- You perform troubleshooting and expert technical field investigations and screening of field service reporting.
- Provide quality leads to the Sales organization to improve Wartsila's and customer's business.
- Participate in customer and/or vendor meetings as a technical expert, when complex technical matters are handled.
- Analyze field experience and customer feedback data in order to improve the products and solutions as well as operation and maintenance of the installation.
- You work in close cooperation with the partner teams in Global and Regional Technical Services Propulsion and Expert Services. Close cooperation exists amongst these teams to enable efficient and world-class support.
What do we expect from you?
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering, Marine Engineering or equivalent.
- Have a high level of mechanical and automation experience with propulsion equipment. Experience with Wartsila propulsion equipment is a strong plus.
- Experience in a service support role with propulsion equipment or with other large rotating equipment (field service / engineering).
- A true team player with a proactive approach and technical reporting skills. Driven for investigating and asking the “why” question.
- You are a strong communicator with good organizational and analytical skills.
- Customer focused with a service minded attitude.
- Willingness to Travel.
- Fluent in Japanese.
