Operations & Maintenance Technician - Mechanical

We are currently inviting applications for the position of Operations & Maintenance Technician- Mechanical to be based at our Mangal site in Kogi State, Nigeria. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of our plant during assigned shifts, in alignment with company policies, procedures, and operational plans. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver results in accordance with defined standards and guidelines, contributing directly to the plant’s performance and reliability.

Main responsibilities:
- Maintain and operate the plant during the shift according to company policies, procedures and operation profile/plan.
- Responsible for all plant related planned and unplanned maintenance activities as assigned in respective shift.
- Reports resources and time utilized, job scope expansion, rework or deferred maintenance as required.
- Take active part in trouble shooting and electrical maintenance jobs during shift.
- Monitor all parameters of engine and auxiliaries during operation.
- Assist shift supervisors for operation and maintenance as assigned.
- Maintain logbook history related to all O&M activities within the shift.
- Utilize tools, equipment, accessories in such a manner to maximize useful operating life.
- Be able to start the local and remote engines and to synchronize them and present immediate solutions of protection of the equipment in cases of possible flaws.
- Permit compliance with safety requirements and liaison and coordination with other departments as required.
- Ensure equipment, materials and tools are on-hand for work execution.
- Implement routine PM checks including vibration & temperature inspections on rotating equipment and ensuring logging or recording of all readings.
- Ensure compliance as per instructions related to implementation of Technical Bulletins and updated maintenance procedures released from time to time.
- Implement lock out and tag out system.
- Handle any other plant related O&M activity as assigned by the respective site Managers.
Education & experience
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Degree in Engineering (B.Eng.) or Technology (B.Tech) in Mechanical.
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience in Wartsila DF Engine.
- Candidates having experience in Wartsila 34DF engine will be preferred ·
- Ability to troubleshoot 4-stroke engines effectively mechanically.
- Good knowledge and use of all mechanical measuring equipment.
- Good knowledge of operation of engine auxiliary systems and their mechanical maintenance.
- General knowledge of maintenance and operations of diesel engines.
- Understanding of all engine fuels, fluids and air supply.
- Quality, safety, and Environment skills
- Diesel Engine ABC knowledge
- Capability of performing trending and analyzing of different operational parameters.
