Metal Bench Worker

Our workshop in Kruiningen performs repair and remanufacturing of marine engines parts, the CO2 footprint of our processes being 6 to 7 time lower than the CO2 footprint of a new part.

 

We are looking for a Metal Bench Worker to join our dynamic, high-energy Workshop team in Kruingen! In our workshop, your role as a Metal Bench Worker would involve a comprehensive range of tasks including overhaul, repair, disassembly, assembly and upgrades of various marine systems such as pistons, connecting rods, turbochargers etc. We will provide you with the Wärtsilä manuals, instructions, drawings and procedures needed for each unique project.

Your role and responsibilities 

 

  • Contribute to the execution of workshop service tasks, such as: overhauls, reconditioning, modification, cleaning, and machining of reciprocating engine components.
  • Liaise closely with Team Leader and Senior Workshop Technician to ensure work scopes are kept within budget and specified delivery schedule.
  • Ensure that all activities in the workshop and on-site are carried out in accordance with the site safety rules and in compliance with Wärtsilä’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Work according to order / project records and checklists.
  • Be an integral part of the workshop team. Strive to achieve common goals and customer deadlines, whereby working overtime hours may be required.
  • Adopt a pleasant, adaptable attitude towards any "ad-hoc" duties that may be required.
  • Always carry out all tasks in such a way as to ensure maximum (internal and external) satisfaction to the extent that this is within the employee's control.
  • Carry out proactive preventative maintenance tasks on plant equipment.
  • Contribute in keeping a clean and tidy workshop, in particular his/her own working area.

 

Requirements for above role

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the marine industry would be advantageous.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with mechanical assembly procedures.
  • The ability to read and understand technical assembly drawings and assembly instructions.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good time management and organizational skills with ability to manage a dynamic workload.
  • The ability to work effectively and efficiently independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

 

As an ideal candidate, you might also have… 

  • You have technical knowledge and experience with mechanical assembly procedures.
  • You are able to read and understand technical assembly drawings and instructions.  
  • Preferably you are well versed with the industry safety standards and practices.
  • Proficient in English. Proficiency in Dutch will be considered an advantage.
  • You are comfortable working under pressure and are flexible to work overtime overtime and weekend shifts as needed for certain orders/projects.
