We are looking for a skilled and proactive technical professional with strong expertise in the field of component reconditioning, and customer support. If you are passionate about prolonging equipment lifecycles sustainably, and world‑class technical service — this could be your next opportunity.
Our reconditioning services enable our customers to prolong the life-time of their equipment, extend TBO and and improve equipment performance and reliability. We are now seeking a Technical Expert, to support our four reconditioning centres technically.
The preferred location for this position is Netherlands, ideally near our Drunen or Kruiningen locations, with occasional travel required. Other locations might be considered as well.
What you will be doing
As a Technical Expert, Reconditioning, you will provide technical support to our recon centres and to customers internally and externally. You will also be involved technically and commercially in the further development of our reconditioning portfolio.
You will also help expand reconditioning capabilities across the wider business, including exploring the use of existing workshop resources (e.g., Kruiningen) for propulsion and other segments.
Core Reconditioning Responsibilities:
Reconditioning of Engine and Propulsion Systems: Ensures the optimal and timely performance, repair and overhaul of ship propulsion systems (engines, thrusters, shafts, propellers) during drydock or active operations. Specifically:
- Process customer or internal inquiries covering technical details and service needs. Deliver technical support and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues.
- Support internal and external customers on site and remotely through specialized technical knowledge of product applications and service procedures.
- Maintain and foster relationships with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure high-quality technical support. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance workshop delivery processes, tools and technology and to enhance product reliability and serviceability.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of technologies, processes, ways-of-working and documentation.
- Contribute to the implementation of technical solutions and improvements in line with customer needs and company objectives, contributing to effective resolution of technical issues and continuous improvement.
- Share technical knowledge and expertise with team members globally, facilitating uniform outcomes in terms of offering, standards, quality and customer service.
- Perform and contribute to root cause analyses.
- Participate in technical product development and improvement projects.
- Support creation of Service Bulletins with high-quality technical input.
- Collaborate closely with Technical Service Propulsion and Expert Services teams.
What we expect from you:
To succeed in this role, we expect you to bring:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or similar (or equivalent documented experience).
- Solid understanding of marine engines and propulsion systems (or related rotating machinery)
- Good knowledge of material science, welding and machining processes.
- A structured, proactive, and detail‑oriented approach to problem‑solving.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Customer‑oriented, service‑minded approach.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
- Fluency in Dutch is considered an advantage.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
