RF Electronics Engineer

Guidance Marine has joined Wärtsilä to enhance the product portfolio in providing ‘intelligent’ shipping digital solutions to not only improve efficiency and safety of our maritime customers.

Requirements
• Capture the requirements in specifications which supports validation and acceptance testing.
• Analyse the requirements in new application areas.

Theory and technology
• Establish, maintain and extend in-depth technical expertise in microwave and related technologies.
• Establish and maintain a broad appreciation of related technology and theory.
• Propagate understanding of relevant technology and theory throughout Guidance.

Design
• Combine understanding of requirements, theory and technology to make sound design decisions.
• Produce creative and innovative design concepts.
• Collaborate in designs - discuss, review, be reviewed, debate, encourage.
• Document important design decisions.
• Propagate understanding of the design and principles of operation of our products throughout Guidance.

Implementation, key indicators:
• Design for test and manufacture.
• Performance (e.g. measurement accuracy) - again can we add more to this?
• Comprehensive and accurate specs to support validation and verification of design.

Support
• Provide second line technical support as required in collaboration with other engineering team members.
• Input into user documentation, often in collaboration with a technical author.

Debug
• Correctly characterise faults.
• Diagnose underlying causes.
• Find fixes.
• Test fixes.
• Give technical advice on consequences of faults, workarounds and deployment of fixes.
