Software Engineer (Embedded)

We are in an exciting period of growth and we are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join our engineering team, contributing to the development of new and existing sensor applications. This is a "hands on" role as part of a highly motivated, multi-disciplinary and dynamic team and will be crucial to bringing our current ideas through from initial prototype to customer acceptance. In particular we are working on a new suite of sensors to respond to the increasing demand for situational awareness and autonomous operations at sea; our customer’s ultimate success depends on our ability to solve these cutting-edge problems.

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities?

 

  • Develop new and existing software applications as part of engineering team
  • Contribute to existing software architecture and signal processing algorithms in our products
  • Establish, maintain and extend in-depth technical expertise in the latest advances

 

What do we expect from you?

 

  • Degree in a software related area (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering) or equivalent experience
  • Expertise writing maintainable and testable code in C++ / C# (Visual Studio)
  • Experience of development on embedded systems
  • Experience of working with sensors (radar, vision, lidar etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, collaborative and can-do attitude
  • Experience with a source control environment (ideally Subversion)
  • Experience developing software on the following embedded Operating Systems:
    • Windws Compact Embedded 2013 (WinCE)
    • FreeRTOS
  • Software development for STM32, Zynq, Atmel, Renesas based devices
  • Algorithm development and data analysis (for instance using Python/Matlab)
  • Experience with Machine Vision techniques and their implementation on embedded systems
  • Knowledge of Agile development practices, including unit testing
  • Familiarity with Jenkins continuous integration or equivalent
  • Understanding of object orientated design patterns
  • Willing to occasionally travel to test sites (onshore) or on vessels for sea trials (offshore)
