About the role:

Wartsila’s Simulation Subject Matter Expert (SME) is a multifaceted position with aspects of Training, Project Management, and Sales. A customer facing position who will interface with high-ranking naval officers and their civilian counterparts. The Simulation SME will be an expert on the operation of Wartsila’s Navigation Trainer Professional (NTPro) simulator product, will create military grade training curriculum, and will provide training to the US Navy and other entities.

 

 
Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with Wärtsilä Voyage Sales and Business Development Office on verifying scope, schedule and analyzing estimates towards future business opportunities.
  • Serve as the End User/Customer/contract prime primary point of contact at Wärtsilä Voyage after Contract Award, managing various needs for key Customers in Commercial and Military Sales.
  • Manage deliverables associated with Naval and Marine Simulation such as full mission, part task, classroom, virtual/cloud based, and virtual reality devices, Maintenance Technician and Operator Training, Technical Documentation, and Services.
  • Support key supplier proposal requests and negotiations of technical requirements.
  • Manage completion of Sub-Contractor requirements execution and escalate performance issues to Operations and Procurement Office.
  • Weekly updates to Project performance measurements, pro-forma's, and schedules, hosting internal review with management on Project status and results.
  • Monitor Operations, R&D and Product performance through frequent communication and performance management tools, addressing issues quickly and effectively to satisfy Project goals, while supporting final configuration management changes and engineering change notices (ECN) clearance.
  • Management of various company Business Systems software tools used in Programs resource planning, project, and portfolio management (PPM) solutions.
  • Project risk planning, assessment and control, preemptive and corrective actions to mitigate or minimize potential risks impact.
  • Work with Customers (U.S. Department of Defense Contract Agencies) and Regulatory Authorities as Wärtsilä Voyage's liaison, to ensure solution compliance and readiness for acceptance and/or qualification.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of Program/Project Management Office (PMO) Processes and Procedures, including development of Lessons Learned and Customer Satisfaction forms.
  • Plan and support business travel for self and Project team to complete delivery, installation, and customer acceptance.
  • Development of technical Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs) such as Requirement Traceability and Verification Matrix (RTVM), Test Procedures (TPs), Software Product Design (SPD), System Subsystem Design Description (SSDD).

 
Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or similar field.
  • Experience with IT environments including network, computers, operating systems and related technologies.
  • Electronics certification an advantage.
  • Skills in CAD and Visio an advantage.
  • Knowledge of US DOD Contracting and Contract Change Management Process
  • Ability to build and confidently communicate presentations to large groups and/or high-ranking officials
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and influence Project teams without direct reporting authority
  • Knowledge of business tools used in Work Estimating, Cost Accounting, and Scheduling
  • Strong skills in the use of word and data processing techniques for performance analysis
     

Travel Requirements:
This position requires a 25% travel commitment, encompassing both domestic and international, including onshore and offshore locations. The role demands adaptability to varying travel demands, with an expectation of extended periods away from the primary work location. Prospective candidates should be prepared to fulfill these travel obligations as an integral aspect of the position's responsibilities.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.  Eligibility to participate in: the discretionary incentive plan assigned to the level of position upon offer of employment; medical, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) plan and flexible spending accounts, subject to plan terms; Company-paid benefits such as life insurance, short- and long-term disability, subject to applicable waiting periods.  Paid time off (PTO) is accrued on a per-pay period basis in accordance with tenure in the Company; a new hire can expect 17 days per year.
