1 Position: General Manager, Sales – Marine Solutions

 

Preferred Location: Mexico City, MX

 

Position Description

 

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
 

  • Serve as the initial and principal point of contact for Marine Solutions related projects and opportunities.
  • Establish, build, and maintain long-term customer relationships to improve the company's opportunities for sales and profits while ensuring customer satisfaction by providing effective and timely responses to customer’s requirements.
  • Coordinate and effectively manage communication among customer base and global business units to ensure accurate, consistent and relevant information is leveraged.    
  • Maximize budget sensitive travel to achieve related objectives.
  • Define growth strategy in primary area of responsibility (AOR).
  • Grow customer base by promoting Wartsila portfolio to existing and new customers such as shipyards, designers, owners and operators.
  • Experienced in direct, indirect and consultative selling, project management and contract negotiations.
  • Meet and exceed annual regional and corporate targets while maintaining acceptable profit margins for Wartsila Marine Solutions.
  • Promote, Participate and Engage in industry trade shows, expos, symposiums and government lobbying efforts in conjunction with segment and product experts. Evaluate ROI on effforts.
  • Lead and manage (often virtual, changing) capture teams comprising of different product/business lines within the company.
  • Establish project specific “Value proposition” to effectively leverage Wartsila portfolio.
  • Maintain frequent, accurate and useful updates of customer interactions, visits, opportunities as well as market and customer intelligence in CRM.
  • Develop and manage account plans/profiles and actively participate in account strategy sessions.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of contracts in accordance with corporate guidelines.
  • Proactively work to enable cross-divisional and cross-organisational cooperation.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering field such as Naval Architecture, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of marine or marine related sales, business development role or a mix of an advanced degree (MBA, MEng, etc.)  plus, relative and or transferable skills.
  • Relevant Marine industry knowledge with a strong background in customer facing roles.
  • Established customer network and extensive geographic knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience in working in fast paced multicultural and highly matrixed organizations.
  • Experienced and comfortable in presenting to and engaging in C-Level discussions.
  • Ability to effectively provide value propositions from both a technical and operational perspective to include lifecycle solutions, CAPEX and OPEX propositions.
  • Proactive and engaging self-starter with ability to operate in a fast-paced and changing market environment with little or no supervision.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally with minimum VISA restrictions (up to 60%)
  • Excellent presentation skills and full proficiency in Spanish and English (both written and verbal)
  • Experience with CRM systems such as “Salesforce” and MS Office suite
