Electrical Field Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate would be required to travel and will be based from home reporting into our office in Montrose, United Kingdom.


What are your main tasks and responsibilities?


  • To test & commission AVR’s, Excitation systems and Protection Relays using suitable test equipment.
  • To compile detailed technical reports for customers approval.
  • Take responsibility as team leader supervising service engineers/sub-contractors/ shipyard labour on location; take a leading role and assist with all work being carried out in the workshop (FAT’s etc) and on site.
  • Carry out fault finding, troubleshooting, site surveys and prepare detailed work specifications.
  • Prepare a list of tools, test equipment and materials needed for work load
  • Carry out the commissioning of generator controls and power management systems.
  • Liaise with customer on site to generate enquiries and technical queries.
  • To attend E&A workshop as and when required
  • To act as mentor/trainer to developing E&A employees as and when required
  • Play a leading role in ensuring that all work carried out is to ISO 9001/2000 standard.
  • Ensure that all activities on-site are carried out in accordance with the site safety rules and in compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety obligations.
  • To adopt a pleasant, adaptable attitude when requested to assist Company staff with any “ad-hoc” duties that may be required.  
  • In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the post holder must be prepared to undertake such additional duties within their capabilities which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity, change the general character or level of responsibility of the post.


What do we expect from you?


  • HND/HNC Engineering.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role. 
  • Excellent communication skills and customer relations. 
  • Ability to work independetnatly and as part of a team. 
  • Strong organistion skills.
