Senior Sales Proposals Engineer, 2-Stroke

We are now looking for a Senior Sales Proposals Engineer, 2-Stroke to join our Sales Proposals Team Greece & Cyprus. The preferred location for the position is Moschato, Greece.


What will you be doing

  • Through a proper commercial and technical attitude, transfer technical product features into commercially appealing proposals, highlighting the added value of the proposed solution to the customer.
  • Be the linking pin function in the Field Service Sales process, between Customer, Field Service and Sales.
  • Participate and/or lead Sales activities, applying consultative Sales approach, ensuring the functionality of proposed solutions are fulfilling the customer requirements.
  • Capable to manage sales project.


As Senior Sales Proposals Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

- Own, manage and develop assigned FS opportunities and lead the opportunity specific sales activities referred to 2-Stroke business. 

- Managing and coordinating 2-Stroke proposal creation with internal & external stakeholders for assigned cases.  

- Creating of high-quality sales proposals for Parts, FS and package solutions addressing customer needs and maximising our value propositions, including documentation like but not limited to: 

  • Commercial propositions
  • Margin calculations
  • Technical scope
  • Description of scope
  • Documenting commercial and delivery terms 
  • Preparing responsibility matrixes
  • Preparing contract documentation

- Customer satisfaction in regard to NPS Services Business in Area

- Closely collaborate with global 2-Stroke & Other OEM Service Sales Support & Development team for growth focus areas

- Identify, present, propose and promote solutions to customers to fill their explicit and implied needs together with local sales and in cooperation with global 2-Stroke & Other OEM Service functions.

- Analyse Regional markets and customer needs and provide feedback to the global 2-Stroke & Other OEM Service Sales Support & Development team

- Create awareness of our 2-Stroke Engine Services offerings with our customers, as well as within our own company mainly with Account Managers or Sales Champions to increase their engagement of our 2-Stroke Engine Services.

- Monitor & manage own performance as defined 

- Maintaining and developing own local market and cultural knowledge enabling tailoring of proposals according to local requirements and needs 

- Managing & developing stakeholder relations, securing efficient and productive cooperation internally and high-quality customer service. 

- Maintain own knowledge of products, offering, customer operations, guidelines and procedures, markets and regulations concerning our business 

- Evaluating received orders against offered scope, enabling efficient and high-quality order handling. 

- Lead and initiate handing over process of assigned cases with delivery organization.  

- Utilise defined sales tools (SC, AQUA, CRM, SAP) in preparation of proposals 

- Systematically evaluate case specific up sale, upgrade, and update sales potential.


Main Requirements in this role are:

  • Have relevant education, preferably technical MSc or equivalent, moreover, concrete work experiences in 2-Stroke Marine Business are a mandatory requirement in the role.
  • Knowledge of regional market and awareness of cultural diversity
  • Customer focus and capability of building strategic relationships
  • Good knowledge of Wärtsilä products and solutions.

  • Have experience with negotiation, communication, coaching and interpersonal skills.

  • Previous experiences in Sales and/or Technical Support will be positively evaluated, with special focus to previous experiences in the products above.
  • Have advanced knowledge of MS Office and CRM (Salesforce) applications

In this role, some travel is required to meet with our customers around the world. Thus, we hope you to be ready to travel approximately 10%, even though most of the meetings are held virtually.
